Dayshift 22; First Shift; Sun Room

As always, Tamaki woke up in his bed. He didn't know how he got there, but he woke up still in the clutches of fear he last remembered from the night. The fight in the hallway, Ed and Adel, the thing...

He was out of bed immediately, determined to make sure his friends were alright. He listened to the man on the intercom, not liking the idea of some big surprise. He didn't imagine any surprises could be good. And he hoped his friends felt the same way...

When his nurse came to get him, he chose the Sun Room instead of the chapel. He wanted no part of whatever was going to happen. He only hoped that Ed and Adel had the same idea....

They probably didn't. Agitated and worried, Tamaki paced along the window, hands behind his back, and waited.

Zabuza looked at him again, frowning.

"Here?" he asked, voice low and gruff as if he needed to clear his throat. Instead of that, though, he spat at the floor, taking the buildup of mucus with it. Zabuza thought for a moment and then leaned back, considering the demon next to him more seriously.

"What about you?" he asked. "Why are you here?"

Wesker was slightly disgusted when the man spat on the floor like that. If they had been out-side it might have been excusable. He hid any expression of disgust that threatened to form on his face, however.

"Yes, here, in this hell hole masquerading as a hospital. As to why I'm here... I think I'll keep that to myself for now, till I know if I can trust you or not." He was being inordinately cryptic today, but he was in that sort of mood. Besides, he was still getting a feel for who he was dealing with, though the sharpened teeth were a good indication.

"Besides. I asked first, and I do have the home-field advantage, so to speak; I've been here longer than you have." Hopefully he was judging this person correctly, the type who was use to dealing with the shadier aspects of business.

"And I think that you and I could have something in common." It was always good to be cautious.

Zabuza did not want to discuss dying, so he ignored that part of this 'conversation' completely. He kept his eyes narrowed and leaned forward a bit. It wasn't that he was very interested in what the glowing-eyes man had to say. He could really care less, but sometimes it was better to get information.

Getting information had never been his best skill. He was more of the type to slit throats than ask questions. It made him want Haku even more.

"Common?" he asked. "With you?" he seemed almost amused by the idea. What would Zabuza have in common with such a... thing?

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. But you're not much of a conversationalist are you? You seem to be more the man of action type." Wesker was very good at maneuvering people.

"As to what we might have in common, well... there's simply no telling in this place. It's full of surprises, but we can talk about those later. I'm more interested in finding out about you. That's what I do, admittedly, my progress in finding out about everyone here is rather slow moving." He grinned broadly. "You're the first person to offer much resistance to my questions. In any other situation, I'd applaud your intelligence. But it doesn't matter very much here."

Zabuza wasn't the type of man to laugh. If he had been than he would have given Wesker a deep, bitter chuckle. He was silent though, only stared at the man before turning his head away again.

He didn't care if this guy had been here longer. What did that matter?

He felt vaguely insulted and it just irritated him more.

"Clearly, something is bothering you. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say you're experiencing loss. I'm not going to press the issue right now, but my name is Wesker, if you feel like finding out more." Once he had that out of the way he reclined, pulling off his sunglasses for a moment to rub at his eyes before covering a yawn.

"I also hope you're good at going for very long periods without much sleep."

[identity profile] be-my-tool.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Very long," Zabuza repeated the words, nodding. He had no problem not leeping. What did sleep matter now anyway, he was dead. He looked at the man with hatred in his eyes. He did not like talk about loss. What did this demon know about loss? The only thing Zabuza has lost that was worth missing was Haku and Haku... Haku had to be in a better place. The boy had died protecting him and had remained pure until the last breath he took.

He took not of Wesker's name but did not offer his own. He watched the man without losing the expression in his eyes.

"There's no reason to look at me like that. Believe what you will about me, but I do know what it's like to lose someone..." He trailed off, wondering if perhaps he shouldn't have said that. It was a bit of a slip up on his part, to mention that. Wesker didn't like to talk about himself. Oh well, he could cover it up easily enough.

"But that's ancient history. So, if you're going to look at me like that, find a good reason for it."

[identity profile] be-my-tool.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Zabuza didn't change his expression and he didn't say anything. He also didn't care if Wesker was telling the truth or not. What did he care about someone else's loss? That had nothing to do with him. He wasn't looking for a friend or a place to discuss life, love and death. He didn't have any use for those things.

In his mind, everyone deserved the contempt and hatred he felt towards this man right now, after all people were all basically weak and disgusting. That was as good a reason as any. Not that he needed a reason.
