Night 41: M01-10 Hallway

[in M7]

Hanatarou had managed to choke down about half of his dinner before finally giving up and pushing the tray away. With a glance back at Sora to make sure his roommate wasn't looking, he'd opened the closet door to get his uniform and started to change; he thought that if he was going to act like a healer he could at least look like one. Right?

He was just settling his pack in place when the intercom went off, and he gave a startled glance back toward the speaker. The announcement was creepy and disturbing as usual, but considering that he was already a bundle of nerves as it was...well, there wasn't really a visible impact on him. There were supposed to be two people - two strangers - coming by to be healed, and he hoped that he'd be able to help them.

The healer paused for a moment, staring blankly at the imitation Hisagomaru in the corner of the closet before finally deciding to leave it there for the time being. He'd have to see how he felt after trying to heal two people before deciding what he was going to do next.

Takaya blinked at her question. Were they friends? He ... he didn't know. He shrugged. "I ... guess so," he said. Hopefully Frey wouldn't be pissed off if he didn't think the same about Takaya.

"I broke my wrist a while back," he added, trying not to look back at the door and failing. "Stupid ass wouldn't leave me alone until he was able to heal it, even if it meant that he was going to be exhausted afterwards." He tensed and pushed away from the wall, wanting to go inside, but not wanting to just be an ... well, be an asshole. God, he was acting like he did around Yuzuru. He had to knock that crap off.

Still somewhat tired but at least no longer dizzy, Frey came out of Kurt's room and looked around briefly for Takaya and Juri. They were, fortunately, exactly where they'd been when they'd parted ways a few minutes ago--no monsters or other patients had caused problems in the meantime, thank goodness. "I apologise for the wait. We can carry on now."

"I don't mind waiting," Juri lied. She moved away from the wall. "We've just been talking." About you. "So where are we going next?" She would really rather get outside, but it sounded like they didn't want to do that.

Takaya looked Frey over with a critical eye. The other boy wasn't falling over, but he still didn't look 100% well. Not yet.

He'd still keep an eye on him, just in case.

Shrugging and pushing away from the halls as well, he scanned up and down, watching for trouble. He didn't really care where they went as long as he could keep both Frey and Juri from being eaten.

Frey felt Takaya's eyes on him and made an effort to look as strong and healthy as possible. Everything is fine here, no need to worry! "We might as well head north to the sports field, then, and see if it's passable." There were two main ways over the wall--from the sports field or the area around the greenhouse--but the sports field was the closer of the two. It would be silly to walk all the way to the other end of the building, find the way barred, and come back this way to try the other path. At least if the sports field was guarded they had only wasted a relatively short trip.

As strategies went, it was a pretty simple and unimpressive one, but it was Frey's and he hadn't relied on anyone else to come up with it, so he felt like it was decent progress.

Just the fact that he suggested getting outside was a relief to Juri. It was all she could do not to run off that way immediately. "That sounds like a plan," she said, though she carefully kept her tone noncommittal. Neither that nor her caution not to run off from her guides kept her from moving away from near the door where they'd been waiting. If they needed to tell her anything else, they could do so on the way.
