Night 41: M51-60 Hallway

Recluse had used his uneventful dinner as time to hammer out and sharpen a new blade for Scourge, and do maintenance on the rest of his own weapons, then changing into his black Arachnos officer's uniform, ready for the night. Then, it had simply been a matter of waiting, impatiently as always, for the doors to unlock.

At least that pompous fool didn't lecture them all that long-windedly tonight. He slipped out into the hallway as soon as his door was unlocked, red eyes glowing dimly in the pitch black corridor.

Well, that had been a total waste of his time. Unsurprisingly, not only had Xigbar been more or less okay - at least he wasn't going to die - but he and Luxord had managed to make him wish he hadn't bothered checking. No surprise there.

The only useful thing that had come out of his side trip was that he felt a bit more sure of his path now - and that it wasn't running parallel to Xigbar's and Luxord's at all. And...actually, that was pretty useful to know, so maybe he had gotten something out of it after all.

Still - part of him felt disappointed. He liked Xigbar and Luxord. (Or he was pretty sure he did. Sometimes.) And while he'd always known he wasn't much more than an annoyance - or, occasionally, a target - to them, he'd thought that their invitation might've indicated...well, something. But since they'd gone right back to acting the way they always had, he supposed all it proved was that even Nobodies could have one brief, shining moment...with the operative word being 'one'.

In the meantime...maybe he ought to go back to Soubi. He didn't have anything else to do, or anyone else to go to; besides, even Soubi at his weirdest was better than a Nobody.

(Of course, he wanted to become one...why, Demyx would never understand.)
