Nightshift 38: Recreational Field

[from here]

She almost wished that she hadn't went last night. Because standing in this field again, in the same place she had been when she felt Hitsugaya die, was surreal. There was no one out here this time--no people, no kids, no mourning Shinigami, no virgin-eating birds. Just the chilly wind. She wrapped her arms around herself, shifting her flashlight and spear.

Senna moved close next to the buliding, hiding in the shadows and peering upwards. No birds so far. Maybe they'd be lucky. That guy better not show her up. Though she had to admit, wearing her Shinigami uniform was a lot warmer than the stupid outfit they gave everybody. And at least there was no more damn smiley face staring at her.

[Waiting for Reid down here.]

The demon hissed triumphantly when she felt the dog's neck snap and felt the wriggling of the creature die down. Once it was dead, she dropped the corpse, letting her arm return to normal before she reached down and grabbed the body by the scruff of its neck, holding it beneath one arm. Ignoring the cold mist which seemed to be filling the field, she headed back over to the other corpse and grabbed that too before heading over towards the building again. The corner furthest from the door was shady and out of the way and that was where she headed. She dropped one of the carcasses and then tore into the second one with apparent relish, tearing through flesh and bone and leaving bloody smears across her hands and face and clothing.

Mercury was tracking the movements of the female on her computer while running an analysis. It appeared that she was...eating? Mercury grimaced, slightly disturbed. Well, at least the patient had moved back toward the building. Hopefully she was only after a midnight snack and would go back inside afterwards. She'd wait and see before taking further action.

The demon ate ravenously, its hunger never able to be completely sated, no matter how much it devoured. Even if it gorged enough to give it a stomach ache, then it would be hungry again soon after. The first dog was soon gone, only a few scant scatterings of bone pieces and flecks of blood and skin on the grass displaying that it had ever existed. Argilla wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and then licked it clean with a delicate pink tongue before pulling the second corpse towards her.

The second dog didn't last long either, and it wasn't anywhere near enough to sate her hunger, even temporarily, but it was enough to bring sense back into her mind and ward off the demon for a little while. Perhaps even a couple of days if she didn't expend too much energy.

But once they were done she stood up, licking the blood from her lips and hands and then heading towards the door. She was supposed to meet Roland wasn't she? It was too cold out here anyway. Too dark to see the prey. They might have more luck inside.
