Night 40: M-C Block Hallway
[from here]
Anti-riot buildings were so annoying; it took forever to get anywhere. Such a shame he was missing his equipment and couldn't just make a few handy new doorways.

The hallways were quiet, peaceful. The perfect sign he'd begun the nightly rounds fairly early. Here was the hope Ken could reach the female dorms with time to spare.
Taking care to keep the spear level, he made his way out and into the main hallways.

Had Lugnut also been moved to another room, Blitzwing belatedly wondered. If so, that might make meeting up with him a little difficult, especially since Blitzwing hadn't left any instructions on the bulletin board. He hadn't thought it was necessary; they'd only be repeating the same thing they'd done last night and the night before, only this time they'd be SUCCESSFUL.
The room change didn't really change anything, he decided, quickly striding forward. Lugnut would no doubt assume they were to meet in the main hallway, just as usual. After all, if there was one thing Blitzwing knew intimately well from their long association, it was that his wingmate was a great deal smarter than he looked.

Not much further from here. Peter couldn't help it; he shifted into a jog, trying to ignore the prickle of fear stinging the back of his head. The faster he got there, the better.

The floor of the hallway was rolling gently, like the deck of a boat at anchor, buoyed up on lazy waves. With some sun and some beer it'd be nice. If he were really on a fucking boat, which he knew damn well he wasn't. Shit. Nothing to do about it but keep going.

Scar had been imprisoned here long enough to know these halls quite well by now. There was little sense in lingering around in such a place, however, so he continued on his way.

Harry was pushing himself to move as quickly as he could manage, not wanting to slow Peter down too much. It wasn't easy and to distract himself from the constant ache that got worse the more he moved around he asked, "You really think hallway patrols will do anything? You can't exactly leap around here like you do back home."
It was harder to picture this Peter doing the whole Spider-man thing. He just didn't look the part. Even if he had the same musculature as his Peter had developed it was hard to think of anyone feeling threatened by him. Trying to picture him fighting off the creature Brock turned into was all too easy after that night in the Entry Room, but not something he wanted to dwell on. Even if he were strong enough to deal with that sort of thing there was no way in hell Harry was OK with the idea of Peter running around alone at night, purposefully seeking out danger. Now he just needed to convince Peter of that too.

"Well, yeah. I don't even have my web-shooters any more. I'd probably look like a colossal idiot trying to swing my way through the halls anyway." He swept his flashlight over the hall again, the wan light barely illuminating the door a scarce few yards away. Holding the light steady, he withdrew the map, nimbly unfolding it as he spoke. "But I figure that if you wander around long enough you're bound to run into a fight. And any help is good help, right? So long as you can save someone, it's worth it."
Clark had better be with Brainy by now. If he wasn't, Peter would track him down and give him the biggest knuckle sandwich he ever did see.
He twirled the flashlight around, shining it on the freshly rumpled paper. "Okay. Uh, which way did you want to go? We could go through the soccer field or the girl's block. They both look like they're the same distance on here."

Harry peered at the map, listening as Peter outlined their possible routes. It was a good thing Peter was organised enough to get one, knowing which room the clinic was located in and finding it were two entirely different things. "Maybe through the girl's block? I don't know if it'll be that easy to cross the field with this," he said, tapping his crutch.
Whichever way they went, there was only one direction they could go now. While he waited to see what Peter would say, Harry started towards the end of the hall. "What did you mean by 'web-shooters'? I thought that stuff was natural. Or something like that." It was kind of weird to think about, either Peter had some thing that shot out his web-stuff or it came from his own body. Harry didn't know which would be weirder. But it at least gave him something to talk about while he tried to figure out how to convince Peter this whole talk of hallway patrols was a bad idea.

The crinkling of paper sounded much louder than it should have in the empty hall, but Peter stashed it away soon enough, trotting a little ways to catch up with Harry.
"Natural? You mean like...Ugh! No, gross!" His face contorted with disgust. "I make it in my lab. If it was natural, it wouldn't be coming out of my...you know what? Let's leave that thought right there."

Once he was out in the hallway, it was nearly autopilot, Lugnut's mind preoccupied by thinking about how inarguably irreplaceable a wingmate he was to Blitzwing, despite anything his crazy companion might have said in a moment of unthinking foolishness.

Wonka was already halfway out of the patient block before he had put back together exactly what he'd been planning for the night, and he quickly realized he'd need to make another dash through the courtyard to get there with any degree of speed (which, given the rotten, virgin-eating rukh population here, posed some additional risks). No way around it, though... he'd just have to run even faster than usual to compensate.

The hallways seemed reasonably placid, as well as dark, though Phoenix wasn't sure that the latter was still as important as it might have been earlier in the day. Still, it was that much easier to let his mind wander, past the immediate shadows - to his destination and further yet, to an isolated mountain sanctuary a world away.
Shaking his head, he frowned at himself, pushing open the door at the end of the hall and double-checking the next avenue before going on. What a thing to be thinking right now.

He'd gotten out significantly later than usual tonight; even this hallway had a notable amount of traffic in it as compared to the emptiness of the previous nights. Still, tonight, the hall was much better this way; there were some faces that looked familiar, but nothing else particularly extraordinary.

The quiet that had relieved Bruce at the start of his night was now only contributing to his feeling of disquiet. He walked a bit more slowly and with a great deal more caution than he (probably) needed, scrutinizing shadows as he went. Ever since that first night, Bruce had begun operating on the assumption that there were always, always something to be found there, and even if they didn't always choose to attack...
...I must be more tired than I thought.
He probably should've eaten more during meals. The first signs of fatigue were already beginning to slow his movements and plague his thoughts; while Bruce was used to going for long periods of time without sleep, it was always simpler with some fuel to keep him going. He hadn't expected to be this tired this soon, however. Perhaps...
