Day 40: Lunch

*hobble wobble*

"Damn that SCOURGE!" Starscream cried out, the slowly-filling cafeteria producing a jarring echo of his raspy voice. His limping, already bad enough from not knowing how to properly use his crutches, was now exacerbated from the injuries he'd received the shift prior. Despite the gauges in his non-casted leg so lovingly provided by the aforementioned 'patient', Starscream could still put some weight on it, but not so much that he could really stop and rest; relieving the soreness under his arms was out of the question. The nurse that walked behind him with his tray, already upset at having to deal with yet another troublesome inmate, was growing rather impatient as his charge slowly made his way down the food line.

"Just...give me a standard serving of the aquatic creature's flesh, some of those fried potato slices, two bananas, and three bottles of juice," Starscream sighed, his anger from just a moment ago assuaged by the physical exertion needed to move the way he did. "I'm going to sit down here...bring it to me when you're done."

He was hardly surprised to find that one of the bananas was completely bruised along its inner curve, or that the handful of 'chips' on his plate were all on the small side. Tired and frustrated as he was, however, he could barely muster a 'damned flesh-creature' before moving his fingers to the plate, picking one of the longer 'chips' and shoving it into his mouth listlessly.

There was an unusually high concentration of sodium chloride crystals on it. Of COURSE.

[For Tony Stark]

Callisto gave a short, childish laugh. "Nope!" It was, in fact, very much worth her time to waste his time, as far as she was concerned. He made it so much fun.

Sighing loudly, she began smothering her fries in ketchup, not sure yet if she was actually going to eat them. "I wonder," she went on as thought she'd been invited, "if we'll just be popped back down there again." She stopped what she was doing just long enough to make a popping sound with her mouth and wave a hand. "Given how much he likes to toy with us."

Sanzo watched as Callisto practically drowned part of her meal in some red substance. He didn't bother trying to hide the look of disgust.

"Considering how we didn't have much of a say in the matter, wondering about it won't make a damn bit of difference." Right now, wondering whether or not they got yanked like that again was just a waste of time or effort. Neither of them had any idea how they were doing it. Or how they were managing it without them knowing what was going on. Until that was answered, they weren't going to be able to prevent this bullshit from happening again.

"Sure it does!" Callisto prodded the red substance with one finger before sticking it into her mouth. Oddly sweet for something that went over some sort of potato, but then these people had all sorts of strange food items in this day and age. "It means we wouldn't be as surprised this time. Saves us a bit of trouble, really."

Unless he hadn't actually planned on returning there, but why would he not want to go back? Perhaps just knowing she'd be there would be enough of a turn off, but that just made him a bigger spoilsport than before.

"I think after last night, it won't be as much of a shock period." Wondering wouldn't have anything to do with it. "And it doesn't save us any trouble, the result is still the same."

He didn't need to say it, but if there was a repeat, it'd mean his ass'd be stuck around her. The place had a twisted sense of whatever passed for humor. He wasn't amused. He didn't trust her at all. She was up to something, and it was just a matter of time before he found out just what that was.

Where the hell was Qui-Gon? It was too bad he couldn't unload her on them; they had an almost inhuman patience.

"Saves us a walk," Callisto snorted. "Now you're just being difficult." She'd had far too many nights where she'd tried to get somewhere only to hardly make it anywhere. Even if they only got a few steps further in whatever place it was Landel had given them access to, it was better than a couple steps through hallways she'd been in several times before.

Taking another look at her plate, she wrinkled her nose and decided she didn't want it after all. She pushed it aside. "Look. As much as you dislike me, all I want to do is see the place, same as you do."

Maybe it did save them a walk. But at this point, he'd rather walk there than have zero choice about it. He didn't like that fact that they'd managed to pull them without any warning, any choice or any knowledge of how they did it. Whether it saved them the effort wasn't even an issue. It was being bullied into somewhere without any say.

Sanzo snorted. Is that what Callisto thought? This was all some big fucking tour?

"I don't want to explore for exploration's sake. This isn't a game." Maybe she thought it was. Who knew? "We aren't the same."

"Of course we aren't," Callisto snorted. "If I hung out with others like me I'd probably go mad." The short laugh that followed lent to the notion that it was likely too late for that, which of course was why she'd said it to begin with.

"We both know it's more than that. You think I don't want answers, same as you? For better or worse, we and the jedi are the only ones who can get through that door. It would be a waste not to see where it takes us." She crossed her arms over her chest. "And I'm not the one making this a game. Landel's doing a fine enough job of that on his own."
