Day 40: Recreational Field
Kio's breakfast ended on a much happier note than it had started. However, for once the announcement truly surprised him. He blinked as his nurse came to pick him up. Recreational Field? But.. but if they had a greenhouse, he wanted to go there. The prospect of gardening was a truly liberating one, an island of joy in this hellhole. He thought about going to the Sun Room and lying down, but it occurred to him that he hadn't had proper fresh air since being here. With a cheery goodbye wave to Honey, he followed his torturer outside.
It was much better than he had expected. The sun wasn't too hot (what time of the year were they in, anyway?), so he walked slowly along the walls, fascinated by the size of the field. He wondered if Sou-chan was alright. He hadn't even checked the board. Well, if Soubi wanted to apologize, Kio would be willing to listen. The place was so crisp and clean. He had to think if anyone had ever gone over the walls. What was out there? Freedom? Or a different sort of monster?
Leaning against one of the walls, Kio took as much advantage of the sun as he could. He desperately wanted a lollipop. One was quietly nestled in his pocket, but he would need to wait until the nurses were busy with other patients before he tried anything. Soubi had gone to some trouble to get them, the least he could do was make sure they didn't get confiscated. So with bated breath, Kio waited for a shift in the mood. He was, for once, content. Not happy, but not going crazy either.

"They call it a 'mental health facility'." Scar said matter-of-fact-ly before making a somewhat awkward gesture towards the nurses. "They think we are delusional, therefore insane and not worth taking seriously. A lovely excuse to treat us as if we have just been born. In any case, getting information from them is a wasted effort."
He paused for a moment, observing the humans and their silly activities. "During the night the doors unlock and you are free to explore. But unfortunately, there are monsters walking around and they hardly stick to the rules of the food-chain." he continued, not completely managing to keep the bored tone out of his voice. "This place also has the habit of limiting your abilities or changing your form altogether."
He apparantly wasn't one of the few to who it had happened. Other than the more rare information he had, the lion believed he had covered about everything.
"This place does not make sense whatsoever. Any questions?" he concluded. "The name is Scar, by the way."

He did learn a few things, though. His adventures with Porky the Pig did happen last night, if the whole monsters thing was a nighttime event. Which meant he could look forward to more of the same tonight. Great. And the reason the humans in white didn't listen to him was because they thought he was insane. That would probably be useful information sometime in the future.
"Changing your form? How often does that happen?" Diego asked in what he hoped was an off-handed way. If anyone else here wasn't used to being human, maybe he could ask them for more information.

"More often than I had previously thought." Scar said. "The majority were still human, but there are plenty of cases who were not. Some have more trouble adjusting to their new forms than others, however. Either way, most aren't too secretive about it, as it rather obvious to a human who is only a little perceptive. There is a certain difference in movements, I suppose."
Scar paused for a moment. "I find it remarkable that you solely commented on the subject of changing forms. Has something similar happened to you, by any chance?" he smirked, looking back at the other patient. "If so, what were you before coming here if you do not mind me asking?"
"And what should I be calling you, by the way?" Obviously, this particular patient wasn't used to being proper. "Unless you want me to think of something to call you by, of course."

"What are they doing?" he suddenly asked, staring out at the humans on the grass. Some of them looked like they were slipping around on ice rather than doing anything useful, but a few of them looked like they were having fun. First of all, having fun doing what, and secondly, when did humans have fun?

"They are playing some sort of game. I am not certain what it is called, but apparently you must run after that round object and kick it in a direction." he continued dryly. "It looks rather silly if you ask me."
no subject
"What's the point of a game like that?" he asked, following the path of the round object across the grass. He'd never seen humans playing around like this, but then again, he hadn't seen enough of human herds to determine what they did with their free time. He just assumed they went around hunting things.
no subject
"I have yet to figure that one out, as I'm not too familiar with them myself." he admitted. It was true; before coming here he had never seen a human before. "But then again, humans seem to enjoy pointless things, like most of the other activities they make us do here during the day. Even the objects they use hardly serve a purpose most of the time."
The King shrugged. "Humans are rather odd, are they not?"
no subject
"So this... Landel guy. What does he do, take people from different times and just drag them all here? Or are we supposed to be here?" Another important question surfaced in Diego's mind for the first time since waking up here. "And how on earth does he do it?"

There were only theories and thoughts, but no solid facts. "With the ease he pulls people from their respective homes, he also makes them disappear." Those disappearances were rather strange.
