Nightshift 39: Autopsy Room 2

[from here]

He left the door open behind them. Joshua could close it if he wanted, but personally he thought it wasn't worth it to assume that the creature would make some noise if it came in; better to keep an eye out for it

The room was mostly white tiles and walls, and tables that he investigated from a distance and avoided once he was certain nothing lurked underneath them. The cabinets on the walls seemed to hold the most promise, so that was where he went.

"If you want to help them, we can still go back. I don't mind." He added, almost as an afterthought.

"Now why would I want to do something like that?" Joshua certainly wasn't going to risk his own life for someone else who had gotten themselves into such a situation, and neither was he going to expect anyone to save him if he was in a similar situation.

Still... as he closed the door quietly and followed behind Nataku, he idly pointed out, "It's just that most people do consider helping people in trouble to be the greatest good. Do you not agree?"

"Didn't mean to touch a nerve," Joshua answered... and yet, it seemed almost like he had. It was almost second nature to him, and it did get him his answer... so perhaps it was time to cool it a tiny bit. The last thing he wanted was someone with sharp instruments coming after him.

As for the question? He nodded a little before turning and beginning to pace around the room. "If you could get some scalpels for me, I'd appreciate it. Meanwhile, I'd hope that they'd have an electrical outlet somewhere around here..."

"Well, isn't it obvious? It wasn't their welfare that I was wondering about." Joshua giggled as he answered that, as in his opinion, that was roughly one of the easiest puzzles to figure out that he'd ever left in someone's path. A freebie, in a sense... that, and perhaps he had shown his own interest just a little too much. He'd have to remember to tone it back in later meetings.

For now, though, he accepted Nataku's flashlight and started searching around, keeping his eyes open. Surely, here of all places, there would be a place to plug in an electrical appliance... but where? "I appreciate that."
