Day 39: Sun Room [Fourth Shift]

Yue was all too pleased to leave the cafeteria by the time lunch was over, even if he still wasn't satisfied that Fai was properly taking care of himself. It was clear that Touya hadn't accepted the answers he'd been given and intended to find out just what the guardian wasn't telling him, and being watched so closely was beginning to get uncomfortable.

It was clear that the truth would have to come out at some point, especially if they were going to be spending any amount of time together. Avoiding him was entirely out of the question, but at the same time Yue stubbornly refused to consider the idea of just outright telling him about what had happened in the last week. It was a dilemma indeed, and only served to make him even more irritable than ever.

How could he admit any of it? That he was weak and crippled, betrayed and altered by his creator? That he'd almost broken the promise he'd given in exchange for Touya's power? The latter he couldn't help but be reminded of every time he saw this Touya, who had only just gone through it, and would remember it even more clearly.

Fortunately Yukito was staying silent for the moment, although he could feel his other self's disappointment at being unable to speak to Touya so far, and it didn't make him feel any better.

In the midst of all this Yue was rather dismayed to realize that the nurse wanted to lead him to the music room, of all places: that was the room where he'd met the Sakura-who-wasn't-his-Sakura the week before, and needed neither the reminder nor the inevitable noise in that room. He abruptly halted in his tracks and refused to continue on. The nurse seemed initially disappointed, but finally agreed to let him stay in the Sun Room instead; the guardian found a corner in which to stand, arms folded across his chest and lost in his own brooding thoughts.

[Sure!]

Fortunately for Touya, Scar wasn't trying to sleep. He glanced at the other patient with his green eyes. At least he had the decency to ask, unlike the majority who apparently thought that being proper took too much effort.

"Very well, go on ahead."

"Thanks," Touya said cheerfully, and he sat down next to the other guy and stretched out. He was tired and ready to relax again, even after sleeping for two shifts straight.

"So, I'm Kinomoto Touya. I just got here last night. And you are?"

"Ah, the headdoctor had mentioned the new arrivals." Scar replied to no one in particular. There were new arrivals every other day it seemed, not that Scar kept up with such trivial news. If there weren't so many disappearances this facility would have been full with people. It would no doubt have the same effect as sticking too many crocodiles in one river. Or possibly Landel could merely snap his fingers and the building would grow. Like a large tree, only faster. The worst part was that Scar wouldn't even be surprised if that was indeed the case.

Maybe the new arrivals were supposed to be replacements for those that had disappeared? Why throw them out in the first place? Surely, it couldn't be the other way around where older patients were supposed to make room for new ones.

"I've been here for nearly two weeks already. I do suppose someone has given you an explanation?" Scar hoped that would be the case. He was all for acting nice and helpful when needed (allies and all that), though the story was getting old after a while.

"And my name is Scar." Strangely simple compared to those silly human names.

"Scar, huh?" Touya laughed a little. "Makes my name look really complicated. You can just call me Touya if you want. It's shorter like yours."

Scar didn't seem like a bad guy, just a little disinterested in what was going on--and who wouldn't be tired of the same old thing after two weeks? Touya suspected he'd get tired of his jobs if they lasted longer than two weeks went on forever and ever.

"Yeah, someone told me what was going on," More or less. There were still some details that were clearly being withheld. "If you've been here for 2 weeks you've probably had to tell the same deal to a lot of people, huh?" Touya said with a lazy smile.

Scar blinked. Could this person read his mind or something with voicing his thoughts? "I shall do just that." he commented, not going to argue. It was most likely just a coincidence, considering 'Scar' was anything but a complicated name. Even a hyena could pronounce it without much difficulty, which was quite a feat for such brainless trash.

"Once or twice, I do not exactly count such occasions." he shrugged. "Though I suppose it does get old after a while." Even the ramblings or the headdoctor. Correction: especially the ramblings of the headdoctor. At first he wasn't quite sure what to think of them, but now they were dearly lacking in anything interesting. Even Zazu wasn't this bad, at least he could be mildly entertaining my forcing him to sing some silly song.

Not that he wished for the headdoctor to sing about coconuts over the whatever it was he made his silly speeches through. And his thoughts were absolutely going nowhere at this point, which meant that he was, in fact, growing bored in this place. Even the shock of last night couldn't entirely fix it.

Speaking of which. "So, have you ran into one of the many abominations during the night already?"

Scar himself had been rather lucky to avoid injuries so far, though it remained unclear when his luck would finally run out. Especially with some sort of vague goal in mind right now; namely the doors leading to the SC areas on the second floor.
