Day 39: Sun Room [Fourth Shift]

Yue was all too pleased to leave the cafeteria by the time lunch was over, even if he still wasn't satisfied that Fai was properly taking care of himself. It was clear that Touya hadn't accepted the answers he'd been given and intended to find out just what the guardian wasn't telling him, and being watched so closely was beginning to get uncomfortable.

It was clear that the truth would have to come out at some point, especially if they were going to be spending any amount of time together. Avoiding him was entirely out of the question, but at the same time Yue stubbornly refused to consider the idea of just outright telling him about what had happened in the last week. It was a dilemma indeed, and only served to make him even more irritable than ever.

How could he admit any of it? That he was weak and crippled, betrayed and altered by his creator? That he'd almost broken the promise he'd given in exchange for Touya's power? The latter he couldn't help but be reminded of every time he saw this Touya, who had only just gone through it, and would remember it even more clearly.

Fortunately Yukito was staying silent for the moment, although he could feel his other self's disappointment at being unable to speak to Touya so far, and it didn't make him feel any better.

In the midst of all this Yue was rather dismayed to realize that the nurse wanted to lead him to the music room, of all places: that was the room where he'd met the Sakura-who-wasn't-his-Sakura the week before, and needed neither the reminder nor the inevitable noise in that room. He abruptly halted in his tracks and refused to continue on. The nurse seemed initially disappointed, but finally agreed to let him stay in the Sun Room instead; the guardian found a corner in which to stand, arms folded across his chest and lost in his own brooding thoughts.

"That's right," she answered. Somehow she imagined that explaining the intricacies of her Servant class and the reasons behind it would be lost on him, so she didn't. To be frank, the boy appeared to be quite simple-minded to her. "When can I expect the information to be delivered?"

"...okay. Kinda cute - the whole being named after a sword thing."

Maybe Saber's parents had watched too many pirate movies and decided to name her after that kind of sword because of that. Or was that a cutlass? Either way, it was definitely better than some of the pirate-y names out there. He then imagined Saber if a skimpy, torn pirate wench outfit and got a dopey grin on his face.

Saber's question then shook him from his fantasy of her standing on the mast, pulling some ropes while the wind blew up her ragged skirt granting him a GLORIOUS revelation. Blue. He could see her wearing blue panties. Maybe with little teddie bears on them. There had to be a soft, girly side hidden underneath that whole knight thing. Wait a minute... did knights fight pirates or was that something like a paradox like ninja versus pirates?

"Uh... what were the questions again?"

Saber sighed. She had certainly drawn the worst card in the deck, but she wouldn't give into her frustrations, yet. "I wish to know the layout of this facility and the surrounding area, a map if possible. I'd also like information on how to acquire weapons. I've been informed it's possible despite us being captives."

Oh. "Uh..."

Junpei fished around in his pocket and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper that also had a bit of pizza sauce on a corner and held it out. "Map?" Complete with the notation Courtyard of Badtouch and evil zombie dogs from hell added to it.

"How to get a weapon depends on what kind you want and how long you're willing to wait."

Against her better judgment, Saber took the disgusting piece of paper between her thumb and index paper as if it were toxic waste and then hesitantly opened it up. Thankfully, a good portion was still visible, the rest not so much. As her eyes scanned the map, she converted everything to memory. While she was busy looking at it, she said, "I'm interested in a sword, and I'd like it as soon as possible."

He couldn't help but roll his eyes with the way Saber took the map from him. Here he was, offering it out of the kindness of his heart and she was acting as if he'd just wiped his ass with it. It's not like he meant to drip the sauce all over it. It was Yukari's fault for not understanding how serious the hostage situation surrounding his hat was.

"Well... a sword..." He scratched the back of his head. "There are people that supposedly can make them using magic, but there are like a bajillion people on the list and only like two people who can make them."

He let out a dramatic sigh. "It really sucks, though, cause I'd like to have one as well. It'd be a lot more effective than the baseball bat I've got now." Not that the bat wasn't adequate for the moment. He needed to get some nails to give it a bit more bite, but a real sword, like he was used to, would be better.

She nodded her head. It was as she suspected. There were people here that were magically capable of forging arms for patients, but apparently she wasn't the only who knew. That was a disappointing reality.

Saber was surprised to learn that the boy, inferred from the way he was talking, had any proficiency with the sword, but then considered it might have been an embellishment on his part. He seemed to be the type to talk big, but she would reserve any further judgment until she saw proof.

"A bat is certainly a poor substitute, but it's still much better than being caught unarmed by the nightshift's monsters," she pointed out seriously. Certainly, she preferred the solid weight of a sword, but that was too much to hope for under the current circumstances. At her current power level, she wouldn't be able to sustain Excalibur for the whole night. "Where did you acquire it?"

"There's a shed in the rec field that has all sorts of sports equipment," Junpei replied. "There's both wooden and aluminum bats plus other stuff there."
