NIGHTSHIFT 38: EAST OF INSTITUTE

(Dropping down from here.)

Dropping down quietly into a defensive crouch, he scanned the surrounding area. There didn't seem to be anything in the immediate area, but that didn't mean there wasn't danger lurking beyond the trees.

Straightening up, though still ready for danger, he moved to help Frey down off the wall. "Stay close to the wall," he hissed.

Frey didn't actually need the help, but it seemed petty to refuse the hand out of pique. His landing was as light and easy as Uesugi's had been, though, and very little of his weight actually ended up being supported by Uesugi; Frey wasn't going to be petty, but neither was he going to allow Uesugi to think that he didn't know what he was doing.

Case in point, Frey just shot Uesugi a slightly incredulous look at the comment about staying close to the wall. Really, now, he wasn't a child--he could figure that much out himself.

"I couldn't see much from atop the wall, but it looked rockier to the north." Or Frey felt that direction was likely 'north', judging by where the sun had risen and set on the days they went to Doyletown; the sun could rise in the west and set in the east in this world, for all Frey knew, but he could only go on what he did know. "I don't know that they'd build a town in the mountains, here. They don't seem to care for defense so much as ease of access."
