Day 38: Sun Room

Matt had to bite his tongue hard to keep from insisting he would be perfectly comfortable in the library, really, and could he please stop being led around like freaking cattle? As the nurse drew him into the empty Sun Room, the answer to that seemed to be a resounding 'No'.

Great.

He was given the usual talk of 'be nice', 'maybe someone will come back and you'll have someone to talk to' and the strangely sincere 'we're getting a few books in braille, they just haven't arrived yet'. He was sure he believed that one, but it would be nice to not be singled out for a change.

Reminded him of grammar school actually.

What a coincidence, he hadn't been fond of grammar school either. Settling back on the seat he'd found himself in, the Daredevil closed his eyes and debated on the merits of a nap as he listened to the occasional person stop by and scribble something down before leaving. A message board or something? He'd have to ask someone about that.

(Free to any and all!)

"So now you're my secondary therapist and my facial expressions manager, as well as my control group. I hope you don't expect me to pay you extra to treat me like your nephew or grandchild," Artemis said, still cradling his throbbing cheek. It better not leave a mark...
strayfag: (so exciting)

"My union certainly does. Treating you like my favourite nephew is part of the benefits package. It's all in the paperwork, Arty." Grandkid? Please. Grandkids got spoiled and treated to cookies occasionally. Badou intened to do no such thing. "You should really look at these things before you sign them."

Artemis frowned, playing along for now. "I didn't sign anything. And if you've tried to forge my signature, I'll know in an instant. Besides," he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest. "I don't consider having my face pulled on a 'benefit'."
strayfag: (half-cocked)

(Internet died. ;o;)

"Maybe not for you." Badou grinned, unrepentant as always. "If it makes you feel any better, it's pretty entertaining to me."

Artemis sighed--he'd clearly been defeated in this round. There was no convincing Badou of anything.

"Yes, yes, my day is complete knowing that I have entertained you in some way shape or form."
strayfag: (thinking)

Well, now they were one for one. It was probably a good idea to quit while the score was even. "I'll keep that in mind. You going to be ok for lunch?"

Artemis' sour expression moved slowly into a small smile. "Most likely not, but I'll find someone who won't kill me for crying into... whatever we're eating today.

"Thank you, by the way. There aren't many people who know how to pull me out of things like this."
strayfag: (can't touch this)

Badou found the ceiling suddenly absolutely fascinating. "Well, if you ever need to sob hysterically into my shirt you're welcome to that too."

[identity profile] byname-bynature.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Artemis tilted his head slightly and looked up at where Badou was supposedly looking. ...there wasn't anything there, as far as he could tell.

"Careful, I may take you up on that offer. What are we looking at?"
strayfag: (not such a dick)

[personal profile] strayfag 2009-01-15 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Badou looked back down again and reached over to push Artemis' head back down and ruffle his hair. He couldn't decide if that was a real question or if Artemis was just being a jerk because Badou failed at emotions. "Nothing. Make sure you eat something too, ok?"

[identity profile] byname-bynature.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Artemis felt a slight twinge of discomfort as his attempt to slouch out of Badou's accursed hair-ruffling attack failed. Back braces did that, apparently--made it impossible to bend one's back.

"I will," Artemis promised, scowling again. If he had to comb out giant knots, he would blame Badou. "As much as I'm able, at least. Post-op patients don't tend to have the stomach for much food, but I'll do my best."
