Day 38: Sun Room
Matt had to bite his tongue hard to keep from insisting he would be perfectly comfortable in the library, really, and could he please stop being led around like freaking cattle? As the nurse drew him into the empty Sun Room, the answer to that seemed to be a resounding 'No'.
Great.
He was given the usual talk of 'be nice', 'maybe someone will come back and you'll have someone to talk to' and the strangely sincere 'we're getting a few books in braille, they just haven't arrived yet'. He was sure he believed that one, but it would be nice to not be singled out for a change.
Reminded him of grammar school actually.
What a coincidence, he hadn't been fond of grammar school either. Settling back on the seat he'd found himself in, the Daredevil closed his eyes and debated on the merits of a nap as he listened to the occasional person stop by and scribble something down before leaving. A message board or something? He'd have to ask someone about that.

The former reindeer watched the scary man from his hiding place for a moment, oblivious to the fact that he was not actually hidden at all.

He went back to twisted the finger in his ear, trying to make the itching stop, but he paused when he realized that he could still sense the boy who'd gone running. His eyes opened back, and he could see the boy at the far end of the couch, his body halfway hidden while the rest was very obviously sticking out. Kurogane paused a second in his itching to stare. "You still here?" he asked, this time with a less harsh tone, then he shrugged and after giving a, "That's not a very good hiding job, kid," to the boy, he went back at his ear again.

The scary man still had his finger in his ear. It didn't look like he was plugging it to block noise, so maybe... "Does it itch?" he asked after a while, curiosity overcoming his fear for the moment.
no subject
Kurogane was trying to keep from bothering with the other ear as well, which had started tingling but wasn't bothering him just yet. If he just left it alone, maybe it wouldn't become a problem like his right.

There. That would account for both possibilities. It was also possible that it just itched because it itched, but he was too focused on the possibility of something being wrong to think of that.

"What're those?" he threw right back, unfamiliar with the wording of the first question. Syntums? Were those (that? it?) what was making his ear itch? "And I don't know." His ear had just started itching after breakfast, so something could have gotten in it, but just what he didn't know. He would have thought though that he'd notice something going in his ear. Who wouldn't?
no subject
He paused, and then added, "Your ear itching could be a symptom. Does it itch often?"

"What did you eat for breakfast?" he asked.
no subject
Just what he'd had, he still didn't know, but he could explain it, he guessed. "Some little meat and bread things, fruit and..." he stopped, and a look of disgust came over his face. Right, that milk. He'd been so intent on itching his ear that he'd forgotten just how rotten that stuff had made him feel. He still didn't feel all that great, and now that he'd been reminded, the taste had come back to his mouth. "Nnnn..."

Chopper reluctantly gave up his hiding place, slowly scooting around the couch and climbing to stand on it. "Let me see your ear."
no subject
His thoughts were pulled from the milk when he was suddenly being asked to let someone see his ear. "Hah?" he blinked at the boy, then turned his head and gave a very firm, "No." What was this kid wanting his ear for?!

The scary guy was mad again! It had been a mistake to try to help him! Chopper let go of the man's arm and scurried back, finding his "hiding" spot at the end of the couch again.

He tried to keep the finger pointed, but he couldn't take it anymore. His other ear just wouldn't stop and, swearing angrily, he ended up with another finger in his ear. "What... the hell?!"
no subject
It looked like the itching had gotten worse... probably. He stared at the scary man nervously, and ventured after a long silence had passed, "You might be having an allergic reaction to something." It was just a guess, since the scary man wouldn't let him examine him, but something he ate at breakfast could have triggered a reaction. The bread, maybe? The fruit was possible, too, but fruit allergies usually were oral. "Or an ear infection..."
no subject
"Reaction to what?" he asked for the heck of it. Whatever allergy or symptom or he didn't know what, he wanted it to stop bothering him and make his ears stop itching!
no subject
"Maybe to something you ate at breakfast," he suggested from his position at the end of the couch. "But not necessarily. It could be from some other allergy, or an infection. Have you had water in your ears recently?"
no subject
He recalled when the showers had been, but with how those nurses were in there, his ears hadn't had any water left in them after that. So if it wasn't that, then something at breakfast...? Nnnn. "Don't tell me milk does this? I'll kill that idiot!" he yelled, anger building. If it really was milk, then Fai would be paying for this. Big time!
no subject
"Some humans do have milk allergies," Chopper stated. "And some are lactose intolerant... Did you have milk recently?"

Another thing the scary guy said concerned him, though... "Someone isn't eating?"
no subject
"He's eating. He wasn't, but now he is."
