He tried to dodge again, but the fire was too wild, too unpredictable. He barely raised an arm up to deflect some of the crackling flame in time, feeling it scorch his uniform and singe his hair and chin. He almost screamed out at the pain of it. Damnit, he thought. No running away from this one...
So he changed tactics. As the flame cleared he charged forward again with a scream, weilding his sword with the unburnt arm, swinging with all his might at the creature's head one more time. The body of the beast was impervious, but if he could just remove its head from its body, it would be fine. It would all be fine.
