Nightshift 36: Main Hallway, 1- East

No one here yet. That was promising as far as them reaching their intended destination before anyone else did, but not so promising in that it meant any number of things could be waiting for them just around the next corner. Brooklyn felt for the weapons at his side, though it wasn't necessary. He could tell they were there from the weight they added to his coat.

"Stick close," he advised. That wasn't necessary either. He knew Nate would do so regardless. At the very least it made him feel as though he had some control over things.

The number of patients steadily trickled off as Near and Brooklyn pressed forward, until the pair was utterly alone. Near was, as always, observant of their surroundings as they moved, and certain to stay close to Brooklyn. He was also careful to keep the beam of his flashlight directed in such a way that it wouldn't impede Brooklyn's enhanced vision; the last thing he needed to do was to blind his fellow.

"To the end." Near bypassed the first stairwell, opting for the one one the far side. It would force them to backtrack a minimal amount, but it would also decrease the opportunity to be attacked from behind. The area around the Sun Room had been particularly dangerous, and thus Near wanted to avoid it as much as possible.
