Nightshift 36: Sun Room
[From here.]
The Sun Room appeared no different from the time Ken entered in last night. What he could make of the floor seemed perfectly intact while sounds inside were nothing of consequence. Nothing mangled, nothing broken, at least as far as the boy could sense.
Still, the chance for change remained, a fact the child wasn't willing to risk. On instinct, he broke out into a run (rather difficult with a long weapon), hoping to reach the cafeteria before anything in the room noticed his presence. It shouldn't be impossible; after all, the walk across the Sun Room was supposed to be short.
Right?

It was definitely much quieter and a good deal less bloody in here than it had been last night. Still, Sasuke hefted his sword into an attack-ready position as he stepped into the room and shifted to the right, making room for the others to enter.

Sasuke didn't say a word either, but instead of getting annoyed at being ignored, he turned his back to Aidou and followed him swiftly, his only weapon being his flashlight, tight in his hand and turned off for now. He'd rather not use the light yet, in case it would alert someone (or something).
He was relieved that the Sun Room wasn't in the same state as last night, a little surprised by the fact that there was no trace whatsoever of an incident. The strong had been so strong then, that it seemed almost impossible for it to be entirely gone. But it was.

Rather than pause out of caution, he moved straight into the room, his free hand resting in his pocket. Neither of the boys should mind, if they had any sense of self-preservation. Having a vampire take the lead in a house of horror, in the dead of night, when human vision was severely limited by a lack of light was probably the biggest stroke of luck someone could wish for.
Not that Aidou had any delusions that even Sasuke knew what a vampire was capable of. Well, hopefully they wouldn’t need to learn.
As Aidou could already tell, there was nothing present in the Sun Room, just as nothing had between present in the hallway outside. No blood… or at least, no blood scent beyond what he could smell all the time, in the disgusting, reeking corners of Landel’s. But there was something, and Aidou lifted his chin high, features set in a look of cold calculation.
When he spoke, his words were brief and without hesitation. Aidou would never be a conventional leader, but in a situation like this, he was hardly best suited to be a follower of someone else. Not here, when he was the only one of his kind. “There’s an enemy in the cafeteria, I think,” was what he said. “So follow me to the door and then scatter to the right to get around the counter. We’re not here to make chitchat with opponents, after all. You two should stay together, if you’ve worked together before. I’ll go the other way. And don’t stop, whatever you do? I’ll be mad if you do something that stupid. Just get to the fridge in the kitchen.”
Too optimistic, maybe? Aidou could hope they’d do as they were told, and that Naruto could lead Sasuke.

The room reminded Akihiko a lot of the dorm lounge, though it was a lot bigger. He looked up, noting the large open balcony. "What kind of place has a room like this in it?" It was hard to see what the rooms above them might be.
"Hm. Do you have a preference as to which side of the room we should start on? We could split up, too, I suppose."
no subject
"It seems as though a few people have gone into the room ahead of us, so one of the sides might be a better place to start, and I don't have a preference. Splitting up might not be a good idea just yet, since we aren't sure what's waiting on the other side of the doors." She paused a moment, considering it. "Alternatively, we could follow everyone else, since it seems to be more important than any of these rooms on the side. Perhaps it will lead to a storage room."
She glanced back over at Akihiko. "What do you think sounds best?"

He glanced over to the board, considering it. "It might be worth looking at that bulletin board, but I think I'd rather see for myself what we're dealing with. We're bound to find some other clues that tell us one way or the other while exploring. As for where...well, if everyone's going in one direction, that means there's likely something there. I think it's worth checking, at least. We can always double back if we need to, since the directions aren't likely to change."

The room was never as dark as some, and Tony shone the light off in the direction they wanted then darted that way, trusting that Kvothe knew where he was going. Tony hoped to be quick and quiet, so he didn't waste time on chatter. Let the others chatter and attract the monsters.

After the stories he'd heard, Yue had expected...well, something more out of this place by night. Instead it appeared the room was entirely too quiet and almost empty, which was nearly as unnerving as encountering some kind of creature lurking in a corner.
None of the tension left his posture as he slowly surveyed the room, noting those passing through unmolested, convinced there must be a trap somewhere. It couldn't possibly be this easy to get through here, could it?

It had been so simple so far, with so few obstacles, that he was certain something had to go wrong quite soon now. And it didn't help that he had Yukito being conspicuously concerned, either.

Wow... it was... empty? Harry rolled his eyes but thanked Merlin for the bareness of the room.
Arts and Crafts was right around the corner, quickly he ducked inside.

It seemed as though the Sun Room was still empty when they came back in, but Mitsuru didn't let her guard down entirely. For the moment, though, they had made it out safely. She had to admit that it looked like there was some honor in the other woman, after all.
It looked as though Amada had needed to grab something, but hopefully he would still be able to pass through safely. For the moment, she looked down at her arms, trying to gauge the best way to go about bandaging them. It wasn't recommended, but she'd likely have to tear at her sleeves and wrap long strips around the most heavily burned areas, if she could manage it.
Mitsuru glanced over at Akihiko after a moment. "What do you think that was all about?"

He glanced over to the door where they'd come from. The boy hadn't come out yet, and it was tempting to go over and check on him. "You think he'll be all right?"

And the Sun Room held... nothing. No monsters, no fights. It was almost disappointing.
Feeling a little let down, Renamon continued into the Arts & Crafts room.

The Sun Room was still as quiet as it had been before, fortunately, and Yue moved as quickly as he could to the nearest couch to deposit Subaru there. No matter how cold or abrupt his demeanor, he was still quite careful with his burden, setting the other down as gently as possible in order to avoid jarring the wound further.
Once that was done, the guardian knelt on the floor to examine the deep gashes on Subaru's leg, frowning in apparent annoyance at them and completely ignoring his own injuries.

She didn't see what all the fuss was about. It looked like there were a few people in the room, but most were too busy with their own problems to bother her or Jiraiya. They were a little too slow, however, to see where Jiraiya's "friend" had gone to.
"Which way from here?"

He pointed in the direction of the room with his flashlight beam. "That way."

Kvothe closed the door to the Arts and Crafts room behind him as soon as he and Tony were out, and since the room had seemed so quiet and empty earlier he took a moment set to try to tear off a piece of cloth to bandage his bleeding arm. Unfortunately the fabric of the clothing and pillowcase were too sturdy to it to be very easy.

In the dark room next door, Tony leaned against the wall, panting.
"Are you okay?" he asked Kvothe anxiously, his eyes on the bloody cut.

The Bride was considerably more cautious walking through the Sun Room than she'd been anywhere else. This was usually a hot spot, but for once it appeared to be clear. No signs of any fighting, just some odd singing from the second floor.
She didn't care to address the singing once she figured out the lyrics; it wasn't Skuld. Onto the next. Beatrix paused, thinking she might have heard something small scurrying around, but she couldn't see anything in the room. She crossed to the cafeteria doors and headed inside.

Hmm. For a room that was usually a locus of conflict (if the bulletin board were any indication) the so-called "Patients' Lounge" certainly seemed deserted. Making a flashlight sweep of the room and finding nothing, the Shofixti gave a sigh (half of relief that he could accomplish his objective safely, half annoyed that he didn't get the chance to slay another one of Landel's beasts). After a moment to check his maps one last time, Tanaka made a beeline for the Game Room; if nothing else, he might be able to find some salvageable electronics there.
