Whatever "one of those" were, Mori had no idea so he just shrugged and let the comment roll off his back. As long as "those" people didn't do something terrible, he didn't really mind. Besides, he doubted Reid would care much if Mori told him the reasons he didn't smoke were because Mitsukuni wouldn't like it and it would interfere with kendo.
The room fell quiet after that and Mori finished what he could of the meal. The apple pie was saved again for Mitsukuni, the dish set off to the side and covered with a napkin so the heat wouldn't escape. He was certain his cousin had to be having a rough time of it all with only one dessert a day, so anything he could do would make it better. Perhaps tonight they'd go see what was in the kitchen. Looking over at Reid's tray, he noticed it untouched, but remembered his promise not to lecture. Still, the dessert going to waste would be a shame... "Going to eat your pie?"
