Day 36: Arts & Crafts Room
Momo was both relieved and disappointed to discover that she would not be receiving another visit from Aizen this week. She was happy that she would not have to go through another bout of doubting herself and getting answers she didn't understand to the questions she had. She was sad, though, that she wouldn't get to see him again, just to feel that comforting presence he has. She had accepted that he was doing very evil things and that she'd unknowingly helped him, but... he was still her captain. He was still Aizen-sama.
Since she wasn't to have a visitor, her nurse gave the option of the vice captain choosing what room to spend the next shift in. Given her injuries, the nurse suggested she stay in the Sun Room, but Momo declined. Now that she had time, she wanted to draw... to create something, especially since she had taken the Noah's life the previous night. Her nurse acquiesced and lead the shinigami to the room.
Momo was moving slowly because of her torso, but also so she could adjust to the new blind spot on her left. She was fairly sure she was doing well enough since neither Fai nor Hanatarou had noticed. Granted Fai hadn't been feeling well himself, but Hanatarou was of the 4th; he should have noticed. Then again, the other shinigami had barely looked at her their entire meal. Maybe she could continue to hide her handicap. The last thing she needed was whomever was planning retaliation upon her for Rhode's death (most likely the other Noah) to learn that she was half-blind.
The shinigami was disappointed to discover that not only did they not have a canvas and easel for her to properly paint on, but they only had finger paints, claiming the brushes were too dangerous... that she could accidentally poke an eye out. Had she the energy, she would have considered smacking the nurse for the bad joke. There was a large white board with various colored markers that she could use, though. It made little sense - markers were okay but a paint brush wasn't? Maybe she'd just make her own brush by cutting off a small piece of her hair and tying it to the end of a pen.
An idea quickly thwarted by the plastic scissors. Sure, if she worked at it she could cut her hair with them, but it's take too long and probably draw the attention of the nurse since there was no one else in the room. Sighing, the shinigami set the finger paints down on the table with some larger pieces of cardboard, next to her journal. Maybe she'd...
Her attention returned to the white board. Picking up a yellow marker, she uncapped it and stared at the board for a long moment before she started to sketch, not quite sure what she wanted to draw.

Then there was Yue. Ururu looked up at the man, and tried to decide what she should draw for him. "Um. Is there something you really like, Yue-san?" She wanted it to be special, because Yue was being so helpful. Ururu decided she was going to make just the right thing for Yue. Then, after a moment, she decided to ask something else too. Not because she wasn't glad Yue was so helpful--just because she wanted to know why. "Did something good happen to you today?"

He finally sighed quietly and set the paper and scissors down again. "Ururu-chan, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier, but - it's hard to explain. You see, Yue-san and I are, well, kind of like two sides of a coin. You know, you usually only see one side at a time, but it's still the same coin?"
Yue didn't seem particularly thrilled by the comparison, but he didn't offer anything better, so Yukito just continued on without waiting for the girl to respond. "But...something happened, last night, and now both of us are here at the same time. Well, Yue is, ah, upset, so he's resting," he amended, then gave the girl a worried smile. "But he's worried about you, so I wanted to help."

It was a good thing she had listened. By the end, Ururu thought she understood. Maybe.
"Oh." Ururu spoke slowly, not wanting to get it wrong and make not-Yue upset, or Yue even more upset. "So you're not Yue-san. But then who are you, Not-Yue-san? And why are you in the same body with Yue-san?"
Ururu didn't really understand how one person could really be two very well. But she would try really hard, because Not-Yue-san was nice, and helping her make things for her friends. And speaking of those things, Ururu hadn't forgotten. "Yue-san doesn't have to worry though. I'm okay. But I still need to know what Yue-san likes. And Not-Yue-san too, okay?"
no subject
At her question, he considered for a moment, eyeing the figures she had already drawn. "How about a rabbit for me?" he suggested, with a smile. "That's what one of the characters in my name means, after all." And everyone back home did seem to love giving him things with rabbits on them. "Yue-san, though, he's a little harder. Hmm. Maybe if you could do something like this, if it isn't too hard - that's his symbol..." Setting the scissors down for a moment, Yukito picked up a pencil and did a quick sketch of a crescent moon with wings on a scrap of paper.

"Okay." The rabbit was easy to draw, and Ururu nodded before looking to see what Yukito drew. That wasn't so easy, but the little girl decided to try it anyway. What she ended up with wasn't what had been sketched, but it was close--as close as she could come, anyway. Ururu could tell the wings from the circles, at least, so it should be okay.
Her drawings done, Ururu went to work coloring each of the shapes, and thinking about what Yukito had said. "Um, Yukito-san?" She looked up at the teen, trying to think about how to say what she wanted in just the right way. "Does that mean you and Yue-san are both going to be here now? If you are, you should join the group Fai-san and Orihime-san and everyone else is making. We're all going to try really hard to find our friends, and there's someone Yue-san wants to find too, isn't there?"
no subject
"I suppose we will both be here," he finally replied, looking back down at the paper in his hands. "We don't know of a way to make it so we're separate again." He wasn't even certain if they'd be able to transform back into him again; whatever had happened the night before had been completely outside of both of their understanding, so neither of them knew what all the repercussions would be.
He carefully finished the shape he was working on, then nodded at last. "I think we'd like to join the group. I'm sure Yue-san would be grumpy and frown at you if you asked him, though, so I'll say yes on his behalf." As expected, Yue stirred slightly at that, annoyed, but didn't object; it'd give him the opportunity to keep an eye on those who insisted on getting injured all the time, after all.
