Day 36: Waiting Room, Lobby 2

Celes had actually relaxed enough, speaking to Naminé during lunch, to allow herself a small smile. It thinned into a line, of course when her nurse materialized from nowhere and swept her off, giggling over her 'surprise.'

"Oh won't it be nice?" she chirped as they walked into the waiting room. "You'll be so happy, I am absolutely sure of it." Celes's small smile thinned itself into a line and she was plunked into a chair to await her visitor. Perhaps I shall be lucky, she thought, looking at some ridiculous motivational poster. It won't be anyone I know, not really. Her nurse wandered away and Celes folded her hands on the table, the picture of impatient waiting.

"We'll pass," Carlos waved a hand, then took Eneas by the shoulder, "No place for us to be, right?" Not Eneas at least. Not ever.

"See ya later then, João. We'll be savin' ya a place at the mines for whenever you get better." Maureo encouraged.

It took Carlos's hand pushing at his shoulder to get Eneas to start heading for the door. He kept looking over his shoulder while walking away with the two men on either side of him, only having to turn it back when he was forced to leave the room.

"I'll hold ya to that." Tyki answered, somehow managing not to twitch when they used that fake name. The smile he offered was forced. "Yeah, see ya later." He waved at them as they walked out. Something was oddly familiar about this. The three of them leaving, Tyki smiling at them as they walked away....it had happened every time he had left for his part-time job.

The smile fell from his face as soon as the trio had left the room. For a moment he stared blankly at the empty seats across him before burying his head into his good hand. And then...

...something in him snapped.

Tyki burst out into laughter. His shoulders shook as he kept his face buried into the hand, probably not doing much to improve the already mental image of him laughing like a lunatic. Whether he was laughing because of amusement or simply at the whole irony of it all, he couldn't quite decide. Maybe it was both, or maybe a whole other reason altogether.

Bravo, Landel, bravo!, he thought to himself. He had no idea how the head doctor had pulled this off, but he had. And here he was, the Noah bearing the memory of pleasure all shaken because of it. It was ridiculous. It was rich!

At that moment, he didn't have much of an idea how close he had come to his black side. It was only later, after he had calmed down and he was finally escorted out of the room by one of the nurses, that he realized that it was something that shouldn't happen again. Ever. The white him, and the black him, they weren't allowed to blend if he wanted to keep them both.

But right now? He couldn't even care less.
