Nighshift 35: Soccer/Recreational Field

[from here]

The warm night air kissed Archer's face as he stepped outside. A half moon was out, giving considerable illumination. On the bright side, it meant that he could see pretty well, even at night, but on the other hand, it meant hiding wouldn't be as easy, especially out in the field, without any cover. Nonetheless, he cautiously made his way over to the shed.

Hitsugaya stepped into the rec field and glanced around. Nothing so far, which was a good sign. He glanced back to his partners. "Just over this wall," he commented. "And as Fowl said, we'll be outside the institute. Still in the realm of Dr. Landel. At the end of the night you'll wake up in your bed as if nothing happened. It's fairly sudden, much like the experience that brought you here to begin with."

And with that he began finding the small handholds in the sheer face of the wall and ascended.

Senna eyed the boy for a second. She bet he had a smart mouth on him. She wasn't an idiot. "I'm not on vacation here." She wasn't going to say anything more; he had already shown that he was familiar with the captain.

The outside was creepier than the darkened hallways, and even with the little bit of light from the sky, the stars were too shadowed to be of any comfort. She looked around the open space for a minute, then trotted after Hitsugaya. "Nothing was sudden about coming here. Sorta slow actually," she remarked casually.

She visibly brightened. Now this was more her thing. She quickly found a couple of knotholds, then started up. Climbing was something fun to Senna. In no time she was standing on the top edge of the wall, perfectly balanced. It wasn't as scary a little higher up.

She resolved herself to make friends with this Fowl boy, Artemis. "Need any help up?"

Artemis smirked at her, "Did I say you were? I can't recall..."

Of course Artemis knew full well that he had taken a shot at Senna's relaxed attitude--but in such a way that he could call it a friendly caution. Most likely, the Captain would tell him to stop aggravating the new recruit, but for now he was content to banter with her.

...especially since now he had to accept help getting up the wall from her.

"Yes, thank you," Artemis extended his hand to her.

Hitsugaya didn't act as expected for once, and instead of growling at Fowl to stop, he let them continue. He was already too lost in his own world, and Fowl was more than capable of explaining anything she needed to know. For now he'd just focus on watching for any immediate exterior threats. If they wanted to bicker with one another, so be it.
