If Archer was closer to Brook by more than just business, Ren would have thought that 'comrade' comment would have meant Brook as well. The girl, herself, seemed to have a pretty pragmatic disposition.
The businesslike survival mentality in Landel's brought to mind hazy memories of the past, something he didn't know how to feel about.
Hopefully, Brook's situation would work out and they'd walk away from it.
