Nightshift 35: M-B Block Hallway
((From here.))
With how many times he traveled through these hallways, sometimes it felt like the nights all blended together. Granted, some were more exciting than others, but in a place like this, a boring night was probably better than one filled with monsters, mad scientists and brain-washed captives. But occasionally there was a nice breakthrough, like that time he and Guy had successfully gathered enough metal for their swords.
Now if only they could actually get them made. It wouldn't solve all their problems, but at least it'd make looking after themselves a lot easier.
In the meantime, it was best to be on his guard. Silently, he made his way into the next hallway.

The main block didn't look too different from when he'd been there last night, and Matsuda headed down the hall quickly, looking around curiously as he did to see if he would catch a quick glimpse of Demyx. Still nothing, though, and it seemed like he'd left before a lot of the people had left their rooms.

Zabuza continued down the hall to Haku's room.

"Maintenance closet for the tools," he said after a moment. "It shouldn't be hard to pick out. As for a computer, the nurses' station or a doctor's office is probably the best bet. The guy I was with last night suggested the library, but if there is one there, it's probably too much to ask that these people are stupid enough to make their files accessible to anything public. Easily accessible, anyway."

Just like last night when he'd walked this path with Hijikata, Okita realized that he wasn't going as fast as he would have liked. As annoying as that was, he couldn't really rush things or he risked splitting open his side again. The blood that lingered on his bandages was already enough of a concern as it was, and he didn't really want to attract any monsters in his current state by shedding more. Even if Guy was there, Okita preferred to keep his roommate out of harm's way.
"So where are you going tonight, Guy-san?" he asked, trying to take his mind off the journey that lay ahead. "Are you meeting up with your friends?"
no subject
The question about his own plans was no surprise, and Guy nodded to himself before answering. "A friend of mine asked me to meet up with him, so I have to go find him. I have no idea what he wants yet, but I guess I'll see soon enough." He really did have to wonder what Ion would need from him that he couldn't simply ask Anise about, but he imagined there were a few things that would fall under that category.
As they reached the end of the hall, Guy pulled forward to lead them out of the block.

Mori didn't waste any time once he reached the main hallway, he didn't have far to go anyway. Turning the corner, he headed for the next hall without much difficulty.

It wasn't far to the next hall, just around the corner. Honey held the flashlight high, scanning the hall as they walked for any opponents. Worried as he might be, he could still maintain his focus and concentrate on the simple tasks at hand.

Meaning they needed to see Tamaki just like Mitsukuni said. It wouldn't take long to get there since they already knew the way. He just hoped Tamaki was up to talking.

The Doctor shone his flashlight around the hall as he proceeded. He hadn't seen the TARDIS in this hall last night, or when he'd passed through in the day, but it never hurt to check. Sometimes things had a tendency to shift.
He still hadn't spotted the ship by the time he reached the doors at the end of the hall, so he continued onwards.

ZEX made his way through the halls carefully, glad that his light provided him with a clear source of illumination. His human Captain's room number... what was it again? 39, that was right. Not too far away, which was as things should be. He kept walking.

This hallway was familiar, and quiet as usual. He made his way through it quickly.

Kaiji trudged along unhappily toward the door to the next hall, expecting his cohort to follow him. The perk to this, if there was any at all, was that he actually knew where he was going. "So who are you?" he asked with some interest, "The real one, without any of the institute's shit." Genuine honesty seemed to be standard fare for the patients he had met so far, but it never hurt to clarify.

"It's Badou." He replied, leading following the man out into the next hallway. Did this guy even know where he was going..?

Ginji's progress was a little slow because he had to use the crutches. He still hadn't really gotten the hang of them, but it was still better than needlessly hurting himself by not using them. His legs were on the mend and almost whole again, he didn't need to muck it up by putting pressure where there didn't need to be. He figured he would learn how to run using them when the time came, simple enough.
He stopped when he made it to the large hallway, thinking on where he should go next. For now he appeared to be by himself so at least he could take a moment to consider his options.

It was the second night in a row that he'd found somebody who didn't look too good right in this hallway. Man, Demyx hadn't even known there were people trying to get around on crutches in this place; it seemed pretty dangerous, given that they weren't in any shape to deal with a monster attack - or even to run away. Still, talking to Matsuda had worked out really well, so he figured checking up on this guy couldn't hurt, either.

Kenshin knew that the likelihood of being attacked this close to the rooms at the start of nightshift wasn't usually that great, but it didn't stop him from keeping his hand on the hilt of his sword as they entered the first hallway.
"F-block, then?"
no subject
"Yeah, F-Block." Sanosuke headed towards the door, shaking the lightstick a little to see if that might make it brighter. "Hey, I think my light stick thing is starting to die or something." Sano held it up, careful not to flash the light across Kenshin's face. "It's not as bright. You know how to fix that?"

Thankfully, Tanaka didn't have much trouble finding the next leg of his journey; with a room bordering the edge of the cellblock, it was a simple left turn to find the door. Again fumbling with his two flashlights and notebook as he tried to get out into the main hallway, he finally became frustrated enough to settle on the more simple solution - putting down his spare flashlight and notebook while he opened the door in front of him.
Ah, that was more like it. The Shofixti sighed, relieved to finally be past what ought to have been a trivial task, and with another glance around the door-frame to check for any of these so-called "monsters", he exited to the outer Institute.

Everything looked the same so far. No fights yet. Which was a very good thing because despite what he'd said to Jamie, Tokito wasn't entirely sure how they'd avoid danger, exactly. Did things just... jump out at people here, or something? Like in a video game? That would really suck.

If nothing else, a stronger grip on the actual layout of the Institute couldn't hurt. Out into the hallways and to subtle patient-watching again, as much an interest as keeping his eyes open for the occasional monster. At least careful wandering had kept him safe from that danger for the past few nights.

Almost there.
Naruto hoped Sasuke would be in his room, or near it. Otherwise, he'd look everywhere he could to find him all night, if needed.
He wanted to see him more than before, now.

Conklin hobbled down the hall, sweeping the area with his flashlight. It was really remarkable, he reflected, how he'd managed to secure no real allies here so far. He was inclined to believe that everybody else was insane.
Except for perhaps that Tony Stark fellow. He seemed like someone with sense.
Conklin wondered where he was at tonight, and rounded the corner into the next hallway.

Mikami turned left upon reaching the wider hall, counting on the hope that the room numbers increased in that direction. He was acutely aware this time of the people already there, and gauged their demeanors for any danger, keeping against the wall and flashlight pointing this way and that.
At the next hallway, he discovered his assumptions were correct- here was M70, which meant M80 had to be the first room in the next hall. Accordingly, he went a little further and turned left again.

Just one more hallway to go and then Ritsuka could give Soubi a piece of his mind for not showing up like he usually did. It wasn't that they had an arrangement or anything, but Ritsuka still felt like Soubi would have or should have let him know if he was going to go do something else.
The more Sheena talked though, the more it sounded like some kind of weird video game. Summons and magic and mana and special techniques? Those sort of things belonged in games like Wisdom Resurrection. "Yeah...Soubi and I can't do anything either. This place is sucking it out of us or something. His room is up here somewhere. It shouldn't be far now."

Sasuke paused only briefly upon reaching the other hall, making sure that the footsteps of the others were still following. This was still a part of the Institute Sasuke was sufficiently familiar with to travel at full speed, so he moved quickly. If they wanted to accomplish anything, there was no room to take the slow, exploratory route.

Sasuke seemed to have some faith in both of the strangers' capabilities, though it didn't change the fact that Aidou's newest tagalong might possibly be at a worse disadvantage than Sasuke, having full use of his sight. Because Sasuke didn't need to worry about whether it was light or dark, he didn't need a flashlight. The other kid did. The vampire didn't want him in a vital position either.
In an ideal situation, he wouldn't need to worry about such things. Unfortunately, they became important when he was in the company of others. As they moved towards the first corridor, Aidou reluctantly skirted ahead of the others, nose wrinkled. "It stinks," he complained in a flat murmur. The usual, faint scent of old, putrid blood, but with fresh vomit, and innards, and... Not all of it was unpleasant to his senses, but still, he frowned.
The source wasn't the issue, it was what had caused it.
"Are you going to come again tomorrow night?" he asked from over his shoulder, intending the question for only one, but not bothering to specify.

Sheena shot out of the hallway into the end of the block, cutting to the left toward the door leading out. She didn't check her speed, as she'd said, but she did divert a little of her attention to assessing Ritsuka's status. The last thing they needed was for her to accidentally drop him and unless there were any hidden trap doors along the way, that shouldn't happen.
Oh man. Why did she let herself even think about trap doors? Now she was going to have nightmares when she next slept.

He just wished that he was able to do something other than just cling to Sheena's back.
[ooc; feel free to godmod Ritsuka until you reach the top of the stairs. :c He can't really do anything right now]

Almost there. In fact, the man could see the door from where he stood.
Perfect, he mused, making a beeline for the hallway. Hopefully, Crane and Mikami had not run off somewhere else; Kristoph would be very irritated if they had.

Jiraiya moved faster now, intent on making his way towards the more interesting parts of Landel's. He was hoping to at least find a partner. Hopefully someone competent.
