Nightift 35: Clinic (M35)

The previous night had helped some. Tamaki certainly felt more prepared and ready to face the night. A day in town, away from the Institute, hadn't hurt either. So when the intercom came on and the doors unlocked, he gathered himself together and quickly began setting up the clinic for the coming night. The sign went up, supplies were laid out, and he sat down on the edge of his bed to begin shredding his sheets....

"Good evening," Raine said. Though she went right to her usual spot at one of the desks, she was watching Tamaki closely; if he hadn't gotten a chance to rest or relax, she was taking him somewhere this time. He looked a little better, at least; considering, that was probably all she could ask over the course of a day. She certainly hadn't been doing well for a while--and for the most part this kind of situation wasn't new for her.

She was still too idle, though; if at all possible she needed to arrange that mobile group, and soon. All she needed was to know how much longer she'd be in here before she got a break.

In which I help look for people too severely wounded to get to help themselves... All right, maybe not a break, but a change of pace.

Sheena had been quiet the rest of the way to the clinic, lost in her thoughts for the most part, but noted the boy that was in the hallway outside the clinic that seemed kinda... lost. She wasn't sure, but she figured she'd check in a few moments to see if he was still lingering outside.

"Heya Tamaki," Sheena said, forcing her worry over Zelos away to return to a more cheerful self. She pulled out the small piece of fudge she brought with her and broke it in half, figuring she'd keep a small piece for that other boy if he was there when she checked.

"It's not much, but it is good," she said to Tamaki as she walked over to him and held her hand out, fudge sitting in her palm.

"Evening." Kratos quietly entered the clinic and slid off to the side of the door in his usual matter. It seemed he always arrived in the middle of some conversation, although Tamaki was already acting cheerier than the previous night- a good sign.

[identity profile] per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Raine was definitely glad to see Tamaki cheerful again; if he was faking, she couldn't tell. "This early in the night, things are still reasonably quiet."

Since they never knew when or if things would get hectic, it was good to see Kratos, too; she nodded to him and picked up a book to study.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Sheena grinned back at Tamaki's excited response to the fudge.

"You're welcome!" The enthusiasm wasn't bothering the ninja and her own reply held a similar level of cheerfulness. "I hope you like it. I was able to sweet-talk some out of the toy-shop owner earlier. i had help, but still... it couldn't have been done without me." She was not going to tell Raine that to pull the act off she had acted all girl-like and even misted up with some tears. Especially when KRATOS was in the room.

"Hey... I'm going to go check on that boy that was sitting outside the room, okay? He looked lonely," Sheena said. "Call me if you need me."

Kratos glanced toward the door as Sheena left. He'd missed whoever she was referring to, but the Mizuho was more likely to notice those sorts of things-- and was definitely better at addressing them as well.

"You never know," he said to Tamaki. "Last night was quiet; perhaps that will carry over into tonight." Granted, there had been a patient, but 'quiet' for the clinic typically meant 'we weren't swarmed'. "And fortunately this trip back was not a repeat performance."

[identity profile] per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"We can hope," Raine said, not looking up; she was paging through a book and taking notes, but she could multi-task. "Though considering that tonight, there are people being taken for experimentation and Special Counseling, I don't know what to expect." Usually there were a lot more monsters out on experimentation nights, so to have someone on Special Counseling as well...

Maybe it was a good thing that she rarely left the clinic.

Since the door was open, Beatrix didn't bother knocking as she entered. Dressed still in the clothes she'd been given earlier, the long blue skirt contrasted with the very real katana slung across her back with the hilt in easy reach sticking up over her shoulder. Her right arm was still wrapped in bandages from the healing burns, but she moved in less pain than one would expect having seen the injury before it was dressed and in her left she held a pillowcase full of various shaped items, indeterminable as it was tied shut.

Her eyes moved around the room. She noted the position of the older male, obviously a warrior, and the elf woman. She was effectively flanked by them with the young boy before her, but she wasn't worried. She was there for a reason. Her eyes moved between the three a moment as she waited to be addressed.

Experimentation and Special Counseling on the same night...was that the Institute's alternative to another ambush? He might have given it some more thought had his attention not been diverted by the woman who had just walked in. Out of habit Kratos did a peremptory scan, noting in particular the sword strapped to her back and...was that a knife in her hair? It was concealed excellently; he'd only been able to notice it by a minute quirk of the room's lighting.

Kratos shifted noiselessly out of his relaxed posture, allowing Tamaki to handle the formalities. He wouldn't be able to do much if she meant to cause trouble- the most he had by way of a weapon was a pen down his sleeve and maybe his flashlight- but he could react fast enough to defend either Raine or Tamaki.

[identity profile] per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
The woman no longer meant her any harm... probably... but Raine still went a little pale. Why does she keep returning here? I'm hardly doing anything complicated to her... she glanced at Kratos, her expression something close to pleading. If the woman needed her arm taken care of again, Raine didn't want to be the one to do it.

Technically one of us could heal her and send her on her way, yes... but after what she did I still don't want to waste any magic on her.

[identity profile] quickdrawbkiddo.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the man shifting his position a little, probably readying himself should the Bride choose to make an aggressive move toward the elf-woman. Considering no one had actually come after her for the initial encounter with the elf-woman, she surmised that she probably hadn't been identified to the others yet. That or they were intelligent enough to know attempted revenge on her would only yield in their deaths.

The boy spoke up and she shook her head. "I do not require any assistance," she stated, her voice cool yet neutral. "I am simply here to drop this off."

She turned and set the pillowcase (http://quickdrawbkiddo.livejournal.com/1014.html#cutid3) down on the desk in front of the elf-woman. "I do not like the feeling of being in debt to another," she said, her eyes finding those of the elf-woman.

It was the first time Honey had actually made it inside the Clinic, though it was just as cramped as his own room and there were more people in it. Holding Usa-chan a little tighter for comfort, he waved to Tamaki as they entered.

"We made it Tama-chan!" he announced, as though the short trek was worthy of applause. Even if Tamaki was talking with other people, it didn't usually stop him from interrupting. He was cute enough to get away with it.

[identity profile] mukuchi.livejournal.com 2008-09-23 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Now that they were at the clinic, Mori relaxed and really thought about what he'd just seen. Had that really been a giant cat? Trying to eat that other patient? He'd always liked animals, but if that was how the local fauna acted, he might be better off not befriending them as he had the tanuki and Piyo-chan. Once inside, Mori stooped down to let Mitsukuni off his shoulders and then looked at the others in the room before giving a nod of greeting to their leader. Tamaki had company already. Perhaps they could talk out in the hall instead.

[identity profile] host-club-honey.livejournal.com 2008-09-23 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Eh heh!" Honey replied cheerfully. Though the Clinic made him a little bit uncomfortable, he'd bear with it for Tama-chan's sake.

He waved a brief hello and gave a sugary smile to the others Tamaki had been talking with, but focused his attention on their leader. "That's great Tama-chan! It sounds like you help a lot of people." And it was just like him to do so. Even if he couldn't fight well, Tamaki seemed to have and endless number of ideas for other ways to help. That's how things had been in the Host Club too.

"Hnnn," he glanced over at them once more. "Do you think they'd mind watching the Clinic if we talked outside some? I don't really like cramped places," he fidgeted. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't a whole truth either. After hearing everyone talk about Tamaki and whatever had happened like it was taboo though, it was probably better than being blunt about it. At least until they were away from so many other sets of ears. "Would that be okay? Just for a little while."

[identity profile] mukuchi.livejournal.com 2008-09-23 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Mori looked over at the other two in the room and gave them a nod of his head in greeting. No matter where Tamaki went, he helped people. He was certainly a force to be reckoned with. However, if the two strangers were also in charge, then certainly he and Mitsukuni could steal Tamaki for a little bit? Tamaki seemed a bit more of his usual self today and that alone was enough to take a bit of the stress off Mori's shoulders, but not Mitsukuni's. He still wanted to know and Mori himself only had a vague idea.

With Mitsukuni's excuse that the Clinic room was too cramped for his tastes, Mori backed up and stood near the door, ready to open it in case Tamaki agreed.

Kenshin entered the room first, holding the door open with his uninjured shoulder so that Sano would have one less thing to worry about. Other than the unconscious girl slung over his shoulder, anyway. Yuffie was still out cold.

"Pardon the intrusion," the rurouni called out lightly. "Is this the clinic that was advertised on the common board?"

[identity profile] per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
[[From above.]]

Raine looked the group over and wasn't happy with what she saw, but at least their injuries weren't as severe as they could have been. "What happened?" she asked, eyes on the unconscious girl--anyone who was unresponsive got first priority.

The boy carrying her shouldn't be exerting himself more than he had to either, so she added, "If you could put her on the other bed?" as she went for the bandages again.

[identity profile] damnrudecock.livejournal.com 2008-10-10 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
By the time Rein came over, Sanosuke wasn't entirely pleased with the situation. Mostly because he was apparently a hell of a lot more worn out from everything that had happened than he realized. He was shaking a bit when he set Yuffie down, a weight that was normally nothing for him to carry suddenly enough of a struggle that the fighter needed to catch his breath after Yuffie was on the bed.

"There was a fight." A couple of fights, but Sanosuke really didn't feel like going into the details with some stranger. He pointed to Yuffie and then to Kenshin in turn, giving a rather brief summary between heavy breaths. "She healed us and passed out, and he got a sword in the shoulder. I'm fine though, so look at them first."

Like hell he was going to let something as little as this wear him out. Sanosuke walked a few paces, trying to calm the vague ache in his muscles as his breathing finally settled into a steady pace.
