Nightshift 35: F11-F20 hallway
[starting in F20]
As the doors opened, Callisto pulled the "trophy" from the previous night out from under her sheets. Nevermind what the man over the speaker said - she had other plans tonight. She'd be glad to get away from her roommate as well. Her concern wasn't at all appreciated.
Meet in the ballroom, hm? It was all a matter of getting there first. She couldn't help but wonder if her short little furry friend would be around again.
Grabbing her light stick, but not bothering with the rod in the closet this time, the former warlord began making her way swiftly towards her destination.

She had quieted her mind and was focused on the task at hand - putting that Noah in her place.

It was never wrong to be cautious.

F18
Sheena Arrived at Raine's room and leaned up against the door frame, one foot up against the opposite side and knocked on the door. With a flick of a hand, her cards appeared and she casually fanned herself, looking very bored.
Re: F18
And failing that, I don't have to be subtle about smacking her.
"Hi," she said, opening the door. She was still wearing the trip outfit; if nothing else, it was a welcomed change.
Re: F18
She started poking around curiously in what was obviously Raine's half of the room. Books. What a surprise.
Re: F18
They didn't actually need to hurry, but if Sheena started asking certain questions, Raine was leaving for M35 if the ninja followed her or not.
Re: F18
"You keep anything else of hers?"
Re: F18
Turning it around on her instead of answering, Raine replied, "Do you keep anything of Zelos'?"
Re: F18
Sheena went completely still, a book half-opened, and her shoulders stiffened. She ground her teeth together, eyes narrowed as she was trying to decide whether to go off on Raine or...
Shutting the book with a slam, the ninja whirled around and stomped right up to Raine, stopping mere inches away to meet her eyes with a furious glare. Her lip twitched as if she wanted to growl or something similar. A flick of her wrist and a card was in her fingers. A moment of tension longer and Sheena turned away from Raine and stalked away.
"That was a low blow, Raine," she snapped. "Don't you DARE ever insinuate that I care ANYTHING for that Idiot Chosen AGAIN! He can rot in a grave for all I care. Come on!"

She was still a little hungry, having eaten very little before dinner, so she wandered over to the dresser and picked up the small bag of cookies that sat on it. They had been sitting there a while, but she was sure they were still good. Anise sat on her bed and ate just a couple before she found her appetite waning as her thoughts wandered to visitor's day. The next one was tomorrow, wasn't it? Maybe her parents were going to come to see her again... As much as she wanted to see them, the thought of them thinking and saying weird things again made her feel sick.
It wasn't long before the announcement came on. Anise looked up from the bag in her lap, listening to the Head Doctor's words. Five patients in experiments and one in special counseling? That solved one mystery, at least: Anise had been wondering why she had been taken for counseling when she was sure it was the wrong night for that.
The announcement that followed was creepy as ever, but that wasn't anything new. Anise knew by now not to let the Head Doctor's threats get to her. Since there was no bulletin access all day, she didn't have any plans made, but she supposed she ought to return the key the Colonel had lent her. There was a small pouch on the back of her Tokunaga doll, and while it was too small for most useful objects, it was perfect for something that size. She slipped the key inside, placed the doll on her back, and made her way out of the room.

With a sigh, she opted to start the night as any other and simply go from there. That meant changing into her usual outfit, which she did, although a little slower than normal. Unfortunately she still hadn't figured anything out by the time that task was complete.
Finally, the realian settled for sitting on her bed, scooting back so her back could rest against the wall. A few minutes of rest wouldn't hurt anyone.
Re: F11
Lucky for Okita, his memory was still good despite his physical state. He found the right hall and began counting down the room numbers until he realized that F11 had to be at the very end. By now, the walk here had tired him out, so he took a moment to rest up against the wall before he finally made it to MOMO's room. He hoped he was in time to catch her and that he wasn't disturbing her, but he needed to be in shape for the upcoming night. Hijikata was waiting for him, and if he wasn't, that was just all the more reason he needed to be healed.
Coming up on F11, Okita raised a hand and knocked lightly on the door, listening intently for any signs of someone within. "MOMO-san? This is Okita Souji... Are you in?"
Re: F11
"Ah, one moment!" The realian slid off the bed and smoothed out her skirt as she went to answer the door. It was a little surprising to see that Okita had come alone since people usually traveled with at least one other person (although she really had no right to comment about that), so she was glad to see that he didn't look as though he'd had any trouble along the way.
"Good evening!" MOMO smiled and started to bow, but quickly thought better of it and offered a small curtsey instead. "How may I help you?" she asked, moving aside so he could enter the room.
Re: F11
The door opened and Okita put on his best smile in an attempt to hide his fatigue. He'd rushed with Guy over here, which did little to help his injuries, but he'd made it in time and that was what mattered. "Good evening," he said as he returned her curtsey with a bow. It didn't look like MOMO was preparing to go out for the evening though. Inside the dim room, he saw none of the preparations that most people would put into the nightshift. Leaning against the door frame for a moment, Okita smiled apologetically and pointed at his injured side. "I was wondering if you might be able to help me with this?"
Re: F11
"Of course! I'd be happy to," she said with a nod. "If you could tell me what the problem is exactly, that'd be great. Otherwise feel free to sit down and make yourself comfortable if you'd like." Healing didn't typically take long enough to where standing became a burden, but it was usually easier when they were sitting. Of course, she wouldn't press it if Okita was more comfortable standing.
Re: F11
Telling her the problem was relatively simple, as long as he didn't overthink the question. He really didn't need to tell her about the trek ahead of him or how he was probably dying of some incurable disease at the moment. Small steps first. He smiled nonchalantly as he spoke of his injuries. "The other night I was stabbed through the side and it's been quite stubborn in healing. A rib or two was broken, but the sword seems to have missed most of my internal organs."
Re: F11
Broken ribs seemed to be a fairly common injury in this place, she noted with a frown. That was certainly better than some of the alternatives, but it was still upsetting. Considering the setting they were in, it was important that they be able to move and be able to defend themselves properly if the need arose; waiting for injuries such as broken bones to heal naturally put them in a disadvantage in that regard. That had to be the single most reason MOMO was glad to be there--if nothing else, her healing abilities were at least useful.
"Okay, thank you. It shouldn't take too long, so we can get started as soon as you're ready." The realian paused, and then extended her hand. "Um, I do have to ask that you give me your hand, though. I'm afraid I have to be in contact with the person for the spell to take effect, you see..."
Re: F11
Now that he had his hand in hers, though, he wondered just what was going to happen. Looking to MOMO now, he tilted his head as he waited to see.
Re: F11
"I'll need you to tell me once you're feeling better, okay? I'm not able to monitor the progress here, so just give the okay when you want me to stop." With that said, MOMO took a deep breath and closed her eyes. A moment later, the faint glow of light appeared around her hands, signaling the successful Ether cast.
Re: F11
A minute or two later, Okita felt that he would be fine for moving around and he squeezed MOMO's hand. "I think that should be enough." The ribs were healed and he was no longer in danger of bleeding. "Your skills really are amazing, MOMO-san. I've never seen such a feat before."
Re: F11
"Th-thanks," she said quietly, bringing a hand to her head as she sat on the bed. "It's one of the only things I'm able to do here, so... So I'm happy to help." Heiji had said something similar when she healed him, hadn't he? It was strange to think that something that was common back home was unusual elsewhere.
After a few breaths, MOMO dropped her hand an opened her eyes, although she had to blink a few times before getting a clear image of Okita. "Are you feeling okay now, Okita?"
Re: F11
Healing was nothing to shake a stick at, and Okita sincerely appreciated the job MOMO had done. No one else he knew of could do what she did, so it truly was both a godsend and a talent. "What you do is indispensable, MOMO-san. Don't sell yourself short."
Re: F11
"I'm okay, thank you," she repeated, putting on a small smile. "Healing takes up a lot of energy, so I just need to rest for a few minutes and I'll be fine... Please don't worry." Resting for more than 'a few minutes' would probably be better, but it wasn't so bad once the initial dizziness faded.
"Thank you again, though."
Re: F11
He really, really hoped he'd get scolded.
Standing up, Okita adjusted the sword at his side and smiled at MOMO, trying to dismiss the doubts from his mind. Hijikata would be in his room. He had to be. "No, thank you. I'll be able to accomplish what I need tonight because of you. But do rest, hm? If there is ever anything I can do for you, please let me know. Until then, I must be going. I'm supposed to meet someone, I think."
He hated to leave her like this, but he had to catch up with someone. Bowing in thanks and happy to feel his ribs not scream at him in pain for the action, Okita slipped out the door and headed down the hall.

F16
Ururu couldn't move as fast as she wanted without a flashlight, but she tried not to take too long to get to the first room. There weren't any monsters in the halls, and that was a good thing; Ururu couldn't fight very well when she couldn't see at all. Plus, she wanted to get to her friends soon, since they hadn't made any plans to meet. It would be bad if everyone went off on their own.
So the little girl came up to Shiki's door a few minutes after she left her room, and knocked quickly. Hopefully the older girl was still there, and would answer. If she didn't, Ururu would have to go inside without being invited, and she didn't really want to do that.
Re: F16
"Hi, Ururu-chan! I take it the rest of the day was pretty good for you?" Shiki smiled, but the smile faded quickly. "That was a pretty scary intercom announcement, huh? I hope everyone is okay."
"Anyway, I have a question for you. I explained about Mr. Mew, right? Do you think you can show me where the Arts and Crafts room is, if you don't have any plans? Or if you do, I don't mind going with you. But I think I want to get started on making - well, it won't be exactly the same, but it'd at least be something."
It could wait if it needed to - if any of her friends were involved in those experiments she wanted to try and rescue them.
Re: F16
"I remember." Ururu had listened carefully then, and she did so now. She could understand why Shiki wanted to go--Ururu wanted her strength back too, and she still had some of hers. But there had been something else that she wanted to do, and that she still wanted to do.
"Um, we can go there. But first, I wanted to check and see if Orihime-san has left." She'd also wanted to check on Fai-san, but Orihime was more likely to use all her power and need someone to catch her afterward. Maybe Fai-san would be okay even if Ururu didn't check on him.
"Orihime-san's room is close by. It wouldn't take long to look." Ururu really hoped Shiki didn't mind, like she said.
Re: F16
Shiki sighed a little. It was a shame she hadn't gotten everyone's room number - she had spoken to a lot of people that day. But then again, if they spent the whole night just checking on everyone, then that wouldn't leave much time left for trying to gather the plushie-making supplies she would need.
"Hey...you don't have your flashlight. Here. Take mine. I'll follow you," she said, holding the flashlight out. "Don't worry. I'll be fine, and I'll stay close."
Re: F16
"Um, the only other person whose room number I know is Fai-san." And Ururu did want to check on Fai-san, but she didn't want to make Shiki wait too long. "And Fai-san doesn't stay in his room long if we don't have plans. It's a bad habit of his. Kurogane-san's the same way."
So as much as she did want to check on Fai-san, Ururu thought it might not be a good idea. She did know Orihime was close, however, and the little girl began to head down the hall, making sure Shiki followed.
Re: F16
F20
As she stepped in the hallway, her stomach growled angrily. She hadn't eaten nearly enough today, and she'd wolfed down supper really fast. Maybe she'd be able to convince the Doctor to find the kitchen as well as the TARDIS.
