Day 35: Black Rock Hotel
[from here]
Aidou ate as he walked, but most of the scant 'breakfast' wasn't anything that would sit well in his stomach, let alone fill it. By the time he'd gotten near the hotel, he'd eaten the muffin and dumped the rest in the trash. The packet of coupons he kept hidden away in a pocket.
Now this would be interesting. And probably infuriating. After all, he had the face for professional modeling and the demeanour of a noble. Any townspeople were probably well aware of who had come from Landel's House of Horror and who hadn't, but how blindly stupid could real humans be before any mental persuasion became obvious? That was the real test.
The vampire was probably more mentally sound than half the people here, to begin with.
He entered the hotel and took in the decor at a glance. By Landel's standards, he was eighteen, so it was possible he could get into any 'adult only' places like the bar. Hmmm. Positioning himself at the front desk like any polite visitor would (which was far too much politeness already, as far as Aidou was concerned), he waited to be acknowledged.

"May I help you?" she asked, politely.

Probably because he hadn't quite gotten the image of a girl marrying a giant hunk of dead flesh out of his head yet, and it was dampening his mood. Though perhaps not abnormal, it was still disgusting.
He didn't say 'no, you're probably a brainwashed twit', because if anything, the young vampire had been preparing himself for this since the last time he'd been here. Charm. Manners. Perfection. That was what he had to promote, like any good noble could do. It didn't matter that it was insincere; Aidou could seem as genuine as an angel and that was what counted. "Hello," he greeted in turn, a light-hearted note in his tone. "I hope you don't mind that I'm not a guest. I was curious. It's not too busy?"

Augh, to think that undead Alice had said their 'nobility'--whatever that meant in her mind--was as bad off and disagreeable as she was. It was hard for him to even listen to some of this stuff; at home, reading manga, amusing himself with the vacuity while surrounded by his peers was different from being here, faced with these creatures. He couldn't take them seriously, and yet at the same time he couldn't not take them seriously.
He was glad to have come across these two, at any rate. If there were more, he didn't know about them, and he had to remind himself that it was quite likely they'd keep popping up out of the woodwork. (Like insects.)
The young noble touched his fingertips to the edge of the counter. "I haven't seen anyone my own age yet." Heh, yeah right. "Everyone must know everyone else, though."

"If you're looking for people your own age, you might want to try the bookstore or the park."
no subject
"No tourists? No attractions? No one wants to stop here?" he inquired innocently, spreading his hands as thought he were naught but an active young man--forcibly brought from out of town--who wanted to know if there were nothing but townies here. If there was even the slightest possibility of actually meeting someone who claimed to be from outside the town, well. That was more interesting.
"Is there, like... a map or something?" he continued rhetorically. Bleh, little chance of that. He guessed even a fake small town would have... small sights. Probably no malls, or cafes, or anything like that. He was really hinting at a desire to pick her brain in that regard. Perhaps he'd have to get more specific for her. "Or could you maybe tell me where they are?"
Anything to cut back on wandering around in the daylight, no matter if the town were the size of a football field.

"The park is nice, if you're looking for something to do. And the restaurant has some of the best food you can buy. We don't have any maps, but I can give you directions. Or...." she trailed off, looking towards the door where an attentive hospital staff member stood.

He leaned forward a bit more rudely, resting his forearms on the counter. It was nothing more or less than Aidou had expected, but all the same, the woman had almost used up all of her allotted 'Idol' time.
"Directions," the noble replied shortly. "Just tell me where everything is, if you wouldn't mind." He ignored the reason behind why her gaze drifted away from him, or the presence of other prisoners. But then a thought occurred to him, and his expression was eclipsed in a sudden burst of wide-eyed boyish charm. "Any other cute girls that live in this town?"

Well, this place seemed a little more classy than the 'institute.' Elle slid her arm through Eddie's again and leaned against him. "Come on, let's get lunch."
no subject
The blond wandered off, checking the place out. He eventually came strolling back, satisfied of what exits they could take. The problem would be jumping out the back door without getting noticed, especially since he caught one of the nurses glancing inside the hotel's window, tracking them.

While Eddie was off scoping out the joint, Elle flipped through the coupons, looking for anything that said Black Rock and might give her the opportunity to have an actual lunch date with an actual guy. Or at least avoid getting involved in a really dumb attempt at pissing off the power structure. Of course there wasn't anything remotely that helpful.
"Nope, nothing," she said when he returned, holding the book out to him between thumb and forefinger, like it was a disgusting thing she'd rather not be touching. "The only meal coupons are for a place called Twin Pines, and something that sounds like McDonald's sleezy cousin."
No lunch, just running and probably getting drugged. "Does that mean we're putting the super-duper escape plan into action?"
no subject
He gestured around him, indicating not just Doyleton, but Landels further up the mountain. Maybe Elle was getting cold feet? Either way, Brock intended to get the hell out of dodge and if Elle didn't want to risk it, well, he'd miss the random make-out sessions but he'd live without them, so long as she didn't break his cover. Brock started to walk deeper into the hotel, seeming to be just taking a look around but heading back to that emergency exit he'd spotted earlier, talking to Elle as he did so.

When they reached the door, she stopped and gave him a mischievous smile. Let him think she was behind this half-baked plan. Then, if they really did escape, she could keep him around without him whining about how she hadn't believed in him.
She raised herself onto her toes and wrapped an arm around his shoulders, winding her fingers through his hair as she brought her lips to his ear and whispered, "Ready to get this show on the road?"
