Day 35: Bus 1

Sanji woke up groggily to find his nurse already in his room. He gave a sleepy and half-hearted "Buh?" before realizing that nurse meant dayshift, and he'd fallen asleep after dinner.

"Shit!" He sat up abruptly, which gave his nurse a start. "Nami-swan!" How had he allowed himself to sleep through an entire night? What if she'd tried to return to the basement? What if she'd been waiting for him to appear and protect her? He'd let her down!

"There, there. Calm down." His nurse set a familiar flannel shirt down on the bed and Sanji eyed it with confusion. The last time he'd worn that had been... "Sorry I didn't knock or anything, but I was so excited~!" A pair of jeans followed the shirt. "Today is the field trip into town! Aren't you looking forward to it?"

The chef had to admit, the town had been an interesting enough place the last time he'd been. If he could find Nami early on he might even be able to lead her around... So he didn't complain too much as he changed into the other outfit (which he really wished they'd let him keep - anything was better than the regular gray) and was led out to the first of the buses.

He took a seat near the front, hopefully easily visible to any of his crew - especially to a certain member of his crew.

[for Usopp!]

Frey was most grateful for the lack of commentary on his clothing. That would have been terribly embarrassing.

He sat towards the edge of the seat, not wanting to crowd the prickly Rune, and nodded in response to his question. "Yes. I acheived what I wanted, and without too much trouble." Really, it was little short of a miracle that he'd managed as well as he had.

If the Star Dragon Sword noticed how rigid Frey was sitting, he didn't show it. Instead, the Night Rune nodded his head to what the Dawn Rune Bearer was explaining. At least someone was productive last night. He'd managed to get out of this blasted institution twice and hadn't managed to accomplish anything. It was such a disgraceful thing to consider in his mind.

"Very good," He grumbled. "There seemed to be some form of scuffle out on the field last night, but I didn't run into anything else for the duration of the night."

Frey was quite relieved to hear that the Night Rune and his companion hadn't run into any trouble the night before--had they been injured and Frey not there to provide aid it would have weighed heavily on the Prince's conscience. "Will you be heading in the same direction tonight? I am ready to accompany you this time, if you wish."

Though it was slightly rude to look away from the person with whom he was conversing, Frey was quite hungry and so he turned part of his attention to the brown paper bag he had been given when he boarded the bus. The fresh fruit was nice, and he started on that first.

He gave Frey a long leasured look at the offer. It had been some time since the Dawn Rune Bearer had accompanied him, and while he'd never admit it, his presence was welcomed.

"I will be heading over the field wall when the doors first open. Do not be late." The Star Dragon Sword muttered. "There was something called a 'quarry' out there that caught my attention. I'll be quite curious in finding it again."

"I will be there." Frey relaxed a touch, glad that his long absence had not made him unwelcome--the grouchy Rune was the only person here who knew of Frey's home, and losing that contact, however slight, with his own world would be devastating.

"My room mate... he may accompany me, if he hasn't other plans." Frey didn't want to leave Takaya alone for the night, lest he lose himself in brooding.

The Star Dragon Sword felt a single brow rising up in question at the mention of a roommate. "Is he a formidable warrior?" He didn't mind, per say, but he wasn't going to have his exploration hindered by a useless bag of flesh.

Certainly Frey didn't want to lie--he'd never actually seen Takaya in battle and couldn't vouch for his skills directly--but neither did he want the Sword to dismiss Takaya out of hand. "He can see in the dark, and has survived in this place for longer than anyone else I have met."

"Very well," He nodded his head at Frey's explanation. There had to be some merit in he fleshbag's potential if he had been able to survive, but that didn't mean that he could fight. The Night Rune, though, could give the mortal one chance. "Shall I meet you in the halls?"

"That sounds good. I'm in M15, so I believe I need to go up through another block to reach the field." Frey hoped that he was remembering correctly, or it would be embarrassing. He also reminded himself, once again, to ask Takaya about the workings of the light sticks.

"M15? I believe that room is in the block beneath my own." The Star Dragon Sword murmured. Nodding his head, the Night Rune seemed to have come to a decision as he glanced over to Frey. "Meet me in the corridor just before you exit out to the field area. It is safest if we meet before heading out."
