Day 35: Bus 1
Sanji woke up groggily to find his nurse already in his room. He gave a sleepy and half-hearted "Buh?" before realizing that nurse meant dayshift, and he'd fallen asleep after dinner.
"Shit!" He sat up abruptly, which gave his nurse a start. "Nami-swan!" How had he allowed himself to sleep through an entire night? What if she'd tried to return to the basement? What if she'd been waiting for him to appear and protect her? He'd let her down!
"There, there. Calm down." His nurse set a familiar flannel shirt down on the bed and Sanji eyed it with confusion. The last time he'd worn that had been... "Sorry I didn't knock or anything, but I was so excited~!" A pair of jeans followed the shirt. "Today is the field trip into town! Aren't you looking forward to it?"
The chef had to admit, the town had been an interesting enough place the last time he'd been. If he could find Nami early on he might even be able to lead her around... So he didn't complain too much as he changed into the other outfit (which he really wished they'd let him keep - anything was better than the regular gray) and was led out to the first of the buses.
He took a seat near the front, hopefully easily visible to any of his crew - especially to a certain member of his crew.

He put his things carefully away in their places and waited patiently for the nurse to show up, as she always did. This time she came with a change of clothing, which, while it wasn't as comfortable as his hakama and robes, it wasn't bad either. Just a loose-fitting pair of khaki pants and a white button up shirt.
Once he was dressed, the nurse escorted him outside to the buses and handed him a bag which he assumed contained some kind of breakfast, just like last time. At least he'd managed to figure out how the puzzling juice boxes worked.
When he stepped on board the bus, he scanned for possible playmates, finally deciding to go with one of the men he'd first met here, Jinn. He was a kind, if somewhat naive fellow and for the time being, he preferred to keep his conversations light.
"Ah, mornin' Jinn-san," he smiled, leaning on the seat in front of the man. "Mind if I share a bench with ya? Y'look like you could use some comp'ny."

Looking up, Qui-Gon nodded at Gin, gesturing at the seat next to him. "Of course."
He scooted over to give Gin some space. The last time he'd seen the man, he'd apparently worked things out with Renji and he'd been asking where he was from. Qui-Gon was still somewhat preoccupied from the loss of the lightsabers and the shield he'd received from the feline-creature last night, but he wouldn't have problems holding a casual conversation if he had to.

Gin took the offered seat and smiled his usual smile. "How y'been?" he asked as he opened the bag they'd given him on the way out to the bus. It wasn't his idea of a great breakfast, but he'd had worse.
Jinn seemed in pretty good condition given how much this place could tear a person up. It would be interesting to see how the man fought, or what he did with his time in the evenings. "Nothin' too dangerous?"

He was about to say more when he noticed one of the patients he was looking for. Sanzo didn't seem to notice him at first, the monk looking dangerously pale and a great deal of bandages visible even with the Earthian clothes he wore. Excusing himself, Qui-Gon got up to check on Sanzo.

Last night had been eventful but not particularly productive. Cloud had wanted to face off against that barbarian again, but it was obviously not meant to be. He hoped that someone else had been successful where he and Yuffie had not been. If not, well, he still had much of the institute itself to explore.
He was not particularly enthusiastic about having to go to Doyleton again, but this was an opportunity to figure out more about the town. Maybe it was possible to connect the town with the outside of the institute and be able to get there during the night hours. From there, was it not a simple matter of finding the road and walking towards freedom? Probably not. Things were not as easy as they seemed to be, and the power of the institute seemed to expand over such a large area. Still, it was worth a try. There was no success without trying it first.
Boarding the first bus he was ushered towards, he was used to wearing odd outfits. He was not nearly as perplexed over his ripped blue jeans, the disgustingly lime green button down shirt or the fact he apparently had to wear his stained black basecap on backwards. Obviously, this was supposed to set some kind of trend, but considering what everyone else was wearing, he fit in just fine.
Spying a seat emptied right in front of it, Cloud took the open seat instead. "Morning, Gin," he murmured as he rooted through his bagged breakfast.

Jinn's leave had been sudden and Gin watched to see which people he was going to sit with. It was always good to know what kind of connections other people had. Said a little about their character.
He didn't have to wait long for a new companion though. Cloud sat only a few moments later and Gin looked up at him with a friendly smile. "Ara, mornin' to you too Cloud-kun." The boy's normally spiky hair was smushed underneath a dirty black hat and Gin was somewhat relieved that his shirt wasn't quite as bright and noticeable as Cloud's. "Haven't seen ya for a couple days. How y'been?"

He pulled out his apple and took a bite of it. He swallowed and glanced out the window before shrugging his shoulders. "So-so. I went over the institute walls, but only found something of interest once. I still have not made it to the basement... I guess I like the outdoors more. How about you?"
