Nightshift 34: Doctor's Office 2 (House)
[from here]
Brooklyn decided he needed a better way to open locked doors as he rubbed at a now very sore shoulder.
There wasn't anything particularly out of the ordinary in this room, though he might not have guessed it to be a doctor's office at first glance, but then Brooklyn hadn't visited many doctor's offices in New York. It was a bit messy, and as the door was locked before they got in he figured this had to be the fault of the doctor. Again there were more electronics that he probably wouldn't be able to get much use out of here.
He stepped aside to let L in. "Well, no eyeballs or weird pictures." This room might as well have belonged to one of his brothers if one just took a glimpse.

He stepped into the office. Clearly whoever worked here did not care about maintaining a professional image as the desk seemed disorganized and the place was littered with items meant for personal entertainment. Considering amount of papers in his inbox and the slim pickings of finished work seen in the outbox, it was obvious that this persons own personal comfort took priority over their job.
This made L wonder why he was able to maintain his job here in the first place. There had to be some aspect about him that made him difficult to replace. If working was not this doctor’s best quality, his abilities alone would have to make up for it.
L began searching the area, rummaging through drawers and taking whatever he found of value. An ipod, a PSP, a Nintendo DS, a game boy advance, candy, and some spare batteries all quickly found their way into his pillow case.

He watched the man pilfer items with a raised eyebrow. Normally he'd be against stealing from someone - especially since they didn't even know anything about this person, but anyone who worked for a madman like the one who ran this place couldn't be any good themselves. He let it slide without saying anything, but wondered what good portable gaming systems would do anyone in a place like this. Did they even have batteries or games to go with them? (Not that he wouldn't have minded messing around with one himself, but there were more important things to be doing.)

L noticed at Brooklyn’s expression as each item found its way into his pillow case but said nothing until he finished taking everything he felt he needed, “If there is something you’d like for payment, please inform me. Otherwise, I am ready to move next door.”

With L ready to move on, the gargoyle was as well. So far they hadn't found anything terribly exciting - which was probably a good thing in relation to the Institution they were in.
