Nightshift 34 - Hall of Armor (Basement)
[From here]
Qui-Gon slid himself into the conversation before it could get heated. "Somehow I doubt we'd find piles of treasure," he said calmly, "but perhaps we'll find something else more useful than mere trinkets."
There was a door at the end of the hall. Passing a particularly cruel tapestry filled with bodies twisting in agony, he opened the door. This new room was well-lit, and he immediately noticed the line of suits of armor, silent sentinels in the large room. Qui-Gon stepped inside cautious, taking in the room, noting the two possible exits, and the suits of armor themselves. They were beautiful, well-crafted and yet he couldn't place which civilization they might be from. They appeared to be holding something.
Weapons.
Qui-Gon stepped closer to take a better look, frowning to himself. What was this? It would be easy to dismiss these as ceremonial and yet each suit of armor held a weapon. The one stood in front of was holding, of all things, a lightsaber...something he'd had the impression didn't exist on Earth and yet here it was. The electrum hilt shone gold, the craftsmanship behind it exquisite...and yet there was dried blood on the hilt. Whose was it? It wasn't his, that was for certain. Reaching out, he rested his hand above the deactivated lightsaber and, after another cautious moment, pulled it out. The blade's hilt felt familiar in his hands.

She didn't need something so fancy, a simple balanced blade would have suited her purposes, but she pulled a longsword similar to her old one from the grip of one of the suits of armor. Then she stepped back quickly. The armor Qui-Gon had pulled his little metal stick from hadn't moved, but one never knew what sort of traps or enchantments could be set in a place like this.

Sanzo didn't make any moves to join them.
What looked like it was too good to be true usually was. The monk hung back, hand wrapped tight around the Smith & Wesson, leaning against the wall next to the door instead. He didn't trust this, at all; there wasn't any way Landel would just hand over weapons like this. Even with that man as guardian in the Sun Room, it was still too easy.

Qui-Gon might not have the Force as his ally, but he'd had a lifetime of using a lightsaber under his belt. It would be highly dangerous to the untrained to wield such a Jedi's weapon. But Qui-Gon felt comfortable with it, even if it wasn't his own, and he thumbed on the lightsaber with confidence.
It shot up with a hiss, the glowing blade extending to its full length. It cast a red glow on his face. Qui-Gon stared at the humming weapon. Red was not a usual color for the Jedi and, in fact, reminded him of that Sith creature he'd fought and been killed by back on Naboo. Perhaps this was a Sith weapon. If so, it seemed the Sith out there - wherever they were - wasn't exempt from Martin Landel's abductions any more than the Jedi were.

What it appeared to be was a beam of solid fire. She was mystified by it despite herself, wanting nothing more than to reach out a hand and see what it felt like. Was it really fire? Was it just light? Was there anything solid within the center of it?
Perhaps her sword could slip as they ventured further in... It wasn't fair that the most peaceful of them knew how to operate the most intriguing weapon. She bit her bottom lip for now and said nothing more about it, instead turning her attention to Sanzo. "And you. What's that little device in your hand do?"

One of the Jedi weapons?
It was possible. So Qui-Gon's order wasn't exactly made up of pacifists, despite what he'd told him earlier.
Sanzo raised an eyebrow at Callisto's question. How the hell could someone not know what one was? Even the farmers out in the ass-end of nowhere knew what one was.
"It's a revolver. A gun," the monk answered. If she honestly didn't know, then he might as well leave it at that, otherwise she'd strain herself.

"It's a lightsaber," he said simply. "A Jedi weapon."
He kept the lightsaber held loosely in one hand, ready to flick it back up and activate it again if trouble came at them. The Jedi Master glanced from Callisto to Sanzo: the young woman was distracted both by his and the monk's weapons. Obviously she hadn't run into a Verpine before. With luck, she wouldn't find herself on the receiving end of it. Sanzo had a short temper but had, thankfully, not pulled his weapon on the new patient. But neither did he seem to want to explain how his gun worked either.
"It's a projectile weapon, I believe," Qui-Gon said, guessing that if it was an Earthian version of a Verpine, it might work the same way. "I could be wrong, but it probably works by loading it with rounds of some short and shooting it at an opponent."

No, probably not. None of the gods were original enough. Though, there was always the possibility of gods outside the Greek pantheon.
Sanzo's weapon became far less interesting once it was described. Just a projectile weapon. Useful, but nothing to fawn over. Qui-Gon's was something out of this world, and the closest she might ever get to having fire at her command again.
"Well, let's get going then, shall we?" She said impatiently. "Unless the wounded wants to grab something too."
