Nightshift 34: Doctor's Office 1 (Dr. Yumeno)
[from here]
Brushing himself off, Brooklyn got to his feet. His shoulder ached a little from the impact, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. He took a glance around.
The office was rather plain, but it did have a computer. (And the desk chair seemed a little out of place, but everyone was allowed their own taste he supposed.) Unfortunately, Brooklyn didn't know much about computers aside from setting up a game of Solitaire. That was Lex's department and he, fortunately or unfortunately, wasn't here. Perhaps it would be of some use to L.
He checked back to see if the other man was following before continuing his examination. There were pictures of some woman all around - the doctor's wife, probably. Looked like he probably wasn't the cheating type at least.
"Come on in. It looks safe enough for now."

He moved into the room chewing on his nail as his eyes fell upon the pictures. It was peculiar that they were entirely of same woman. He could find no other pictures of family members or even of the doctor working in this office… Unless the woman was the doctor. L couldn’t be too sure. “What do you know about this person?” He asked Brooklyn. Maybe the man had heard something that would give him a little more insight

At L's questions, the gargoyle looked embarrassed. He suddenly felt like he didn't know things that he should, even though he really hadn't had any way of learning them before now. "I just figured the woman was the doctor's wife or something. Though it does seem a little excessive." He shrugged. "I'm sorry. I don't know anything about any of the doctors. I've never met any of them. I don't even know which one's mine."

L placed his flashlight on the desk pulled his sweater over his fingers, “I do wonder about the prior experience you mentioned before. How was it that you came to find they had ‘some real crazies here’?”

His face took on a look of mild revulsion. "His office looked normal enough, but when we pried open a locked desk drawer we found a bunch of eyeballs in jars. If that's not the sign of a mad doctor, then I don't know what is." Sure, they'd only been in the one office, but that was enough as far as the gargoyle was concerned.

He peered inside and began to rummage through the drawer, finding nothing of interest. Other than the photographs and the chair, the office seemed to be fairly typical. And there were more rooms waiting as well. For time’s sake, he couldn’t investigate each one as thoroughly as he’d have liked. “It doesn’t appear that we will uncover anything else of vital importance here. Are you ready to move on?”

Anyway, L was right. There wasn't much left to see here and one never knew how quickly the night would end. "If we get into his room I'm sure I'll recognize it," he added as he led them back into the hall.
