Nightshift 34: Doctor's Office 1 (Dr. Yumeno)

[from here]

Brushing himself off, Brooklyn got to his feet. His shoulder ached a little from the impact, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. He took a glance around.

The office was rather plain, but it did have a computer. (And the desk chair seemed a little out of place, but everyone was allowed their own taste he supposed.) Unfortunately, Brooklyn didn't know much about computers aside from setting up a game of Solitaire. That was Lex's department and he, fortunately or unfortunately, wasn't here. Perhaps it would be of some use to L.

He checked back to see if the other man was following before continuing his examination. There were pictures of some woman all around - the doctor's wife, probably. Looked like he probably wasn't the cheating type at least.

"Come on in. It looks safe enough for now."

L noticed Brooklyn attention on the computer, “I would consider trying it, but I don’t believe it would do us any good. Considering the number of individuals who pride themselves in hacking here, I am certain that it has already been attempted to no avail. Besides, if there is even power enough to turn on the computer, the light from the screen could attract unwanted attention.”

He moved into the room chewing on his nail as his eyes fell upon the pictures. It was peculiar that they were entirely of same woman. He could find no other pictures of family members or even of the doctor working in this office… Unless the woman was the doctor. L couldn’t be too sure. “What do you know about this person?” He asked Brooklyn. Maybe the man had heard something that would give him a little more insight

“This individual does seem to have some strong interest in her.” L said, wondering if he should remove one of the pictures. In the end he decided against it. The action would produce little effect on the parties involved and he could probably reproduce the image in a sketch if he needed. “And that is quite alright if you don’t know. I was simply hoping that some rumors might have traveled your way.”

L placed his flashlight on the desk pulled his sweater over his fingers, “I do wonder about the prior experience you mentioned before. How was it that you came to find they had ‘some real crazies here’?”

“Which office?” He asked as he carefully pulled open the drawers. There was a chance that he would be visiting the office of that doctor later on.

He peered inside and began to rummage through the drawer, finding nothing of interest. Other than the photographs and the chair, the office seemed to be fairly typical. And there were more rooms waiting as well. For time’s sake, he couldn’t investigate each one as thoroughly as he’d have liked. “It doesn’t appear that we will uncover anything else of vital importance here. Are you ready to move on?”
