Nightshift 34: Decontamination Room (2nd Floor)

[From here]

Allelujah shone the light around the room, eyes widening in worry at the sight. He shuddered, recognising the room and the use it would be put to. Decontamination. The doctors and scientists would come here to wash off after administering something potentialy harmful to the children so that they could watch the results without being damaged themselves. He tensed up, wrapping his arms around himself for a moment and letting the light from the torch bob wildly.

They aren't here. It isn't that place Hallelujah said and there was that almost physical touch again, stroking down his spine. Besides, I'll kill them if they are and the cruel amusement broke him out of his memories.

There was only one door in this room and perhaps he should have searched this room more thoroughly, but he doubted that there'd be anything of use. The next room though, that would contain the things they needed to wash off and those he could use. The door was mercifully open and he pushed it open before stepping through.

Aside from the chicken pox incident, Meche's experience with hospitals was pretty much limited to reading stories to patients. But she'd picked up a few things, and she had the feeling that she wouldn't be too far off the mark if she guessed that this room was for cleaning. Cleaning people--decontamination?

Why would they need a room like that in a mental hospital?

Suddenly she was feeling a lot less inclined to run her mouth than she had earlier. She edged closer to Manny, hoping his nerves were a little stronger than hers at the moment.

Manny's experience with hospitals was limited to soothing those who couldn't stick around for one more story.

He didn't notice Meche's uneasiness until a few seconds passed and she didn't say a word. He decided she might feel better if he volunteered to scout the next room without her, though he quickly forgot about it when the noises that seemed to be coming from beyond the door ahead of them suddenly rose to a worrying volume.

"Maybe we'll come back when the entertainment's over," he suggested with a frown, turning to the door he'd left ajar.
