Nightshift 34: M21-30 Hallway

Wolfram had debated slowly as to whether or not he should go out for the night. He was still really worn out from the night before, Aidou was busy, he had no idea where anyone else was that he should be looking for, and quite honestly... staying in and sleeping was more than a little tempting. But his mind was troubled, and he felt a bit restless at the same time. Maybe he could just explore the patient room hallways, see if he could figure something out from there.

Stepping out into the hallway, he carried nothing but his flashlight. The bat and his other possessions were kept inside, since he had no plans of going out too far.

It wasn't long before he found himself moving down what was becoming a familiar hallway.

Ed folded his arms over his chest, looking at Adelheid stubbornly. "You have somewhere to be," he said, shooting Adel's words back at him. Now if his friend would just get out of the way and let him go and kill Envy, then things would be just fine. He took a step forward, intending to just brush past Adel if he didn't move.

And Adel stepped to the side, blocking Edward's way with narrowed eyes. He had somewhere to be, sure, but his friend took priority. "It won't take a moment, then then I can be with you. Or at least tell me where you're going so I can follow. ...won't you do this for me, as a friend?"

He hated having to play that card now, of all times, but he didn't want Ed to go into a dangerous situation on his own. Especially not if it had anything at all to do with Envy.

Ed made a frustrated noise but moved to lean against the wall, giving up at least a little to the inevitable. Adel just wasn't going to back down. Ed knew that by now. It was kind of... nice to be able to know someone besides Al so well, even if he'd never admit it. As a friend, huh? "The library," he said finally, turning to look at Adel. "My mechanic, Winry is here. She saw a mimic of her father last night, and then someone posted to the bulletin saying the message was from her parents and she should meet them in the library. It's Envy. It has to be."

"...sounds like it. And if it's a woman, then there isn't much time to lose. Ed? Go to the library as soon as you can; I'll be there after I deal with Hattori. ...and promise me that you'll be well enough to help me with the alchemy." That was a bit rough, perhaps, but Adelheid meant it. He knew that defending the women in one's life was of utmost importance, and now he felt a little bad for keeping Edward there.

Then he stood to the side, letting his friend past, though not without a worried look. He wasn't going to break his promise, but... he couldn't help but think that Edward would get himself into trouble somehow.

Why did it make any difference if Winry was a girl? Not that it mattered. Ed nodded sharply to Adel, smiling at his friend gratefully for understanding and not trying to talk him out of doing something like this. He grinned, reckless and savage. "Of course I'll be fine," he said, as though he were absolutely utterly certain. "You be careful too." The Sun Room would be a pain in the ass to get through, he was sure.

"I will be. ...probably more careful than you will be," he said with a quiet smile, hoping that everything would work out all right. Edward was looking particularly feckless, and Adelheid knew that he'd have to hope that Hattori's business wouldn't take so long that Edward could get himself into too much trouble while they were on the way.

With a sigh and one last bit of well-wishes, Adelheid turned and started moving down the hallway, heading to the meeting place he'd been delayed from.
