Nightshift 34: M11 - M20 Hallway

Drawing himself up and out of bed, Hohenheim gathered up his supplies for the evening and fixed his glasses back upon his nose. He flicked on his flashlight and looked around the room. He slipped the radio into his pocket in hopes of hearing some good information, but he was expecting a bit of a busy night if all of his theories came true. He was looking forward to one aspect but not the other.

Ah well. He couldn't have everything go his way. He needed to get moving in order to make good use of the night. He really needed to explore this place as well, but he could do that if there were no good books in the library.

Heading out into the hallway, he set off.

"You know I can never get enough of you, oh baby," Yohji replied, absolutely deadpan before grinning again as he slipped past Ken and into the room. "I love what you've done with the place," he said dryly.

He turned back to Ken, a little more serious now. "I just thought I should, y'know, do something," he said awkwardly. "Me and Omi hit the Doctor's Offices last night and I think we're kind of okay now."

"Yeah, well, after my last long-term accommodations, I wanted something more bright and cheerful. At least I got the bright part. When the lights are on anyway," Ken replied, equally dry.

Ken smiled after Yohji's second statement. "I'm glad. I want us to be okay, y'know?" Well, as 'okay' as they ever got.

"I think I preferred the van to this," Yohji muttered, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. Even as cramped as it had been, four full grown guys (well, three and a chibi) sharing roll out beds in the mobile flower shop.

He smiled back weakly. "Yeah, me too. I figure I can work my way up to making nice with Aya. We never got on even when we were on good terms."

"...never thought I'd say this, but I fucking agree. God, I'd kiss the pavement that damn van drove on if that meant we could get the hell out of here." Ken sat next to Yohji, and then flopped backwards, arms crossed under his head to support it.

"I dunno. Aya's chilled out a lot since we first met him. I mean, hell...you remember what I did to him when he walked into the shop the first time, right?"

"Hell yes," Yohji sighed, closing his eyes. "Cramped spaces and allergies and all." He'd even take the missions if he could get out of here.

He stifled a snort of laughter at the memory, nodding his agreement. "How could I forget. Not that I'm complaining since I got home to find a hot redhead in my bed but... I guess I just didn't see the more chilled out side of him since Weiss reformed." Which was mostly his own dumb fault.

"Yeah, well, he has a reputation to keep, y'know?" Ken grinned. "You'd never let him live it down otherwise."

"I dunno. With the two of us the way we were...he probably kinda needed to be. Not that we were even around half the time..." Ken shrugged and sat up again, throwing an arm over Yohji's shoulder. "But whatever. We've got time now, and we'll have more after we get the fuck out of here."

"Mmmm, true," Yohji admitted with a grin. "He'd be way too easy to rile." Not that it wouldn't have been nice to see him acting less stand-offish once in a while though.

He sighed softly and nodded, expression twisting slightly. "Yeah. Dealing with the two new kids was probably bad enough, but dealing with us on top of it?" He didn't envy Aya the task. "I'm not sure which would have been worse?" He smiled slightly, not entirely sure if Ken really believed what he was saying about getting out. "Yeah, when we get out. Heh, maybe Omi'll end up back in his time and change things before they get so bad."

"Maybe," Ken said. But he really didn't want everyone to go back to their times. Selfish of him, but that would mean he couldn't help Yohji, and from what Aya'd said, he was in trouble when he'd been brought here, too.

Yohji shifted slightly, giving Ken a curious look. "You don't exactly sound convinced there, Ken," he said, mingled amusement and concern in his voice.
