Day 34: Men's Showers

Artemis Fowl was, yet again, exceedingly displeased to be naked.

As much as Haku insisted that since he had experienced public bathing before, this time would be easier, the feeling was not mutual. Artemis' body was his own personal business, as far as he was concerned, and no one else's. His only comfort was the fact that he was not hideously tattooed anymore with various and sundry insults branding him a moron.

Still, that did not stop him from taking a towel into the shower area once again, Nurse Hedgerow grudgingly allowing it. She could see no other way of getting the boy to bathe. He was as stubborn as ten teenage boys. And after that lecture on psychological torture through means of public humiliation...

The boy let the water run over his head, the towel clutched firmly around his body. And he thought. July. How was it July when it had been fall just a week previous? It was impossible, logically speaking. But what part of this place fit in with any sort of logic Artemis had ever encountered? No, if he didn't let go of the fact that things would be as insane as people claimed he was, he would lose his mind.

His fingers brushed the burn mark Caleb had given him for what seemed the fortieth time. ...He had to get himself together, or this would only be a small taste of what awaited him in the hallways.

"Um..." Allen didn't have to think long to come up with a description. "He's really tall and thin. He's got dark skin and black hair that's slicked back. The thing that stands out the most though, are the crosses on his forehead." Allen brushed his bangs aside to point to his own face.

"They look like they've been carved into the skin." Not that his scar was much better, but Allen was glad that Tyki didn't exactly have a normal description. Might make him a little easier to find. "But I think he only looks that way at night. I haven't seen anyone like him in the daytime."

Though Allen didn't think he really needed anything to untangle his hair, short as it was, he was kind of curious about the stuff. When he squeezed some into his hand, it felt like heavy cream. He poked at it a moment before he actually tried it, following Sora's example and working it into his hair. Luckily his was a little easier to work with than Sora's impressive spikes. It only took him a short while to work it in and then wash it out again. The texture of his hair felt kind of funny afterward.

He shook his head one more time to get the bulk of the water out, then switched his own faucet off. "I'll post a bulletin and make sure everyone knows," he assured. "Thanks um... for... talking and everything. I'm gonna go get changed. I'll see you around, ok?"

With that, Allen gave a wave and hurried to find the closest towel on his way out.

That was a pretty unique description, though Sora was pretty certain he hadn't seen anyone like that around. He would be looking more closely for someone like that now that he knew about it, though.

But when Allen mentioned that his appearance might change between night and day, Sora wasn't quite sure what to think. Was that really possible? Though with all of the other fantastical things he had seen, he wasn't one to disbelieve much of anything. Still, it was going to make it a lot harder to track the guy down.

He would have asked some clarifying questions if they hadn't both finished their showers already. There was no point in hanging around naked in this place when they could dry off and get changed.

"Okay, yeah, the bulletin should help," he agreed. "Good luck with that, and I'll talk to you later!" As Allen walked off, Sora turned off his own shower, wrung some of the excess water out of his hair, and then left the room himself.
