Nightshift 33: M35, Clinic

Tamaki was still awed and touched that Ritsuka had set up the clinic for him. He... well, he'd stay alert and up and as focused as possible until Raine showed up. And anyone else. He remembered Kratos had said something about not being able to make it....

They really did need more healers and doctors. Maybe during the day he could hold classes in first aide or something, and anyone who wished to help could come. Yes, that was something he could focus his mind on. That was good.

He struggled out of bed, eyes still feeling hot and itchy from crying, and opened the door with another small smile directed at his roommate.

From the sound of the intercom, something was happening tonight. Maybe he should ask Ritsuka to stay after all.....

Beatrix gave the woman a nod when she indicated she didn't need the walkthrough. This was good as instructing someone on how to tend to burns this bad while it was being done to her was not something she really wanted to do.

When the woman started tending to the wounds, the Bride watched as she worked. It'd been a long time since she'd been in this much pain. Even the gunshot to the head hadn't hurt this much considering how fast she'd lost consciousness. She tried to keep her face stoic and unmoving, but as the woman worked, the less control she had over blocking the pain out. Considering the way the woman relentlessly worked, without the demeanor of a typical doctor, Beatrix was starting to think the woman was enjoying the pain she was causing, though it didn't show. Perhaps the woman was justifying it by knowing the healing it would bring about.

Whatever to make her feel better.

Suddenly, the Bride felt a sharper pain than the others, near the inside of her elbow as the woman got to a very tender area of the injury. That was enough to push the ex-assassin over the edge of control and she lashed out in an outward expression of the pain she was feeling. Except she didn't target Raine.

Her left hand snapped out at the wooden closet door next to her as she swore. The solid contact caused a crack to form vertically from where her fist hit it for about two feet up and one foot down. The Bride closed her eyes as she pulled her hand back, dropping it down to clasp the back bottom of the chair to keep herself from striking the woman helping her.

"Continue," she said, trying to drawn in calming breaths.

Raine jumped back, both startled and in self-defense, and just barely kept the knife from slicing even deeper into the woman's arm. She still drew more blood than she'd intended to, but the extra cut was shallow. I would suggest NOT doing that again. She didn't say it because she knew very well it had been involuntary.

And the woman had been careful not to hit her. Right now, at least, she didn't mean any harm--somewhat like Kratos. Except Raine would far, far rather have the angel (or Zelos... or Yuan) at her back in a fight than this woman.

When she'd gotten as much of the burned skin as she could, she took a brief breather just for her own sake; this was much more labor-intensive than she was used to. I may not have wanted to waste any magic on her, but at this point I wish I could. "All right. Now I have to get out what's left of the last bandage you had; it won't feel any better."

Eyes still closed, Beatrix nodded. "Continue," she said again, tightening her grip on the chair enough that the plastic audibly protested. Thankfully, her grip alone wasn't strong enough to harm the chair.

She breathed deeply, seeming to steady out her respiration to a rate slower than any normal person should have give the circumstances. She was slowly starting to compartmentalize the pain into a manageable state once again. She opened her eyes and then turned her head away from the sight, partially revealing the presence of the concealed pairing knife as well as the mental plate in her skull.
