Night Shift 32: Main Hallway 2-Center (Includes Sun Room halls)
[running from here]
John grabbed Wolfram's arm and ran, his flashlight bouncing around in his grip. He needed to get a grip. He couldn't freak out. Freaking out led to rash decisions and he couldn't afford those at the moment. It didn't help that he kept hearing his mother hurrying him on in his head.
Run, John! You don't stop! You always run!
"Yeah, yeah, run... I got it, but where?" he said to no one as he paused only a moment before dragging Wolfram down to the right, aiming for the doors across from him. "Let's hope my good luck holds out and one of those doors is open."

John wanted to run, and he supposed he could run, despite the fact that it went against his usual tendencies. Something really didn't add up, and they needed to keep moving.
With a quick nod to John, he tried to rush past the newcomer's side in attempts to get to the next door.

Edward moved in front of the one named John, though it was not at a human pace. It was as if he had been beside him, watching them walk past, only to be in front of him once again.
His demeanor was completely different, however. His traces of pleasantry were gone, eyes having grown animalistic. The boy's upper lip curled back over his ultra-white teeth, his stance shifting to a low crouch on the ground. His body shuddered, once, like a lion before the leap - though the was no more movement in the violent gesture, only a clear warning to move away.
A guttural growl settled in his throat, in case his stance was not enough incentive to make the two turn around.

"What don't you want us to see?" he asked, trying to reason with the boy. Perhaps he was trying to protect them. "What is in our rooms? Why should we go back there?"
no subject
He didn't try to move forward, but he didn't retreat either. "What do you want from us?"
no subject
He took a step forward, placing a hand on the ground for balance, but never lifting from the crouch. "There's nothing to reason over. Go back to your rooms. Now. I won't repeat myself again, I'm afraid."
no subject
"This is starting to get ridiculous," John sighed. "I don't know what is being kept up here, whether it's gold or narcotics or gold laced with narcotics, but I'm not returning to my room. Do you really want to fight us on this?"
no subject
"Hmph. What the hell is wrong with you, anyways? Or do you not want to get out too?"

His warnings completed, the vampire moved once again. He'd seen the others pass, heard the rather selfish thoughts - they could be dealt with later. It was a dead-end further on, anyway. Unless they wanted to take a trip down.
First come, first serve.
Edward grabbed a hold of one of Wolfram's wrists - the right one, the closest one - holding tightly enough to almost crush the bones underneath. He swung, bringing the boy around with him, letting go at the opportune moment. It sent his body straight for the other's like a bullet, enough force to knock the wind out of both - and perhaps shatter bones, if they landed correctly.

John groaned, his head hitting the wall and he saw stars. He coughed, wheezing as he struggled to breathe. He'd never seen anyone throw a person before. No, that was a lie. Of course he'd seen that. It just caught him off guard since he had expected the usual demand to know if he was John Connor. What he wouldn't give to have Cameron with him right now.

He tried to tell John that perhaps they should turn back after all, but his voice failed him. He made no further attempts to move or try to stand up.

Yuber abruptly stopped as they entered in to the next hallway. The sense of chaos wonderfully overtook him as he sighted the events unfolding around him. “It appears as though I spoke too soon,” He muttered to Logan, but there was a sense of amusement colouring his voice as he watched the two bodies go sailing through the air and slam against the wall. Unfortunately he did have a contract that he had to fulfill, and until Logan reached the medical supply room, he wouldn’t be able to play.
Or would he?
Yuber made no effort to mask his appearance as he stepped out in to the hall. He instantly noticed that one of the two sprawled out on the floor was rather familiar to him, and the Black Knight was rather amused to see that it was one he met earlier this morning. Wolfram wasn’t it?
Chuckling softly at their predicament, Yuber’s gaze flickered up to regard the one who had obviously attacked the pair while he addressed Logan. “The room you want is the second door on the left.” The knight murmured while gesturing to the row of doors on the opposite side of the hallway. He would give Logan no further indication to continue on without him, but he was certain that his companion got his message. It was unlikely that they’d both be able to make it over towards the supply room, and he personally had far more interest in challenging his skills than looking at a whole mess of useless medicines.
“What do we have here?” Yuber’s amused expression twisted to one resembling an almost psychotic glee as he kept his sights of his opponent and gripped the hilt of his sword tighter and stepped up to stand beside Wolfram and John’s fallen forms. While his powers were mostly locked away, he would hardly shy away from a battle with out first experiencing his opponents capabilities.

Logan followed immediately behind Yuber and almost ran into the taller man as he stopped. He caught himself just in time, and stepped to the knight’s right to survey the scene. He too saw the two patients go flying, and barely registered Yuber’s words. In an instant the knife was out, teeth bared, muscles clenched. An instant, and he was ready to start tearing flesh, drawing blood. It was an instinct, one that had rankled within him for a century. But Cole’s words still held him long enough to give pause and watch. Not for long, though.
He gave more of his attention to Yuber when the Black Night spoke for the second time. Righ’, he thought. Wha’ I came here fer in tha firs’ place. Gotta stay focused. Plen’y o’ time ta crack heads later. He resolved to be as quick as he could, get in, find what he could, get out, get into the fight. “Keep ‘em busy, bub! Be righ’ back!” He said with a snarl, before bolting past the fight towards the door.
Reaching it, he tried the handle. Locked. Figures, he growled mentally. Taking a step back, he let fly at the door just below the lock with an expertly-placed and adamantium-augmented kick. The lock was strong, and it took a second kick before the door swung violently inward. Wasting no further time, he dashed into the dark room beyond.

He had been overwhelmed before; in fact, many, many times. But it was always humans, which made it hardly worth bothering about. The fact that these two - the ones who stepped up to the proverbial plate - had sharpened weapons made little difference to him. How many humans could shove a knife through a brick wall? The effect would be essentially the same. Except this wall would not stand and take it.
At the very optimistic least, the two first comers were down, and hopefully would stay that way. He didn't find amusement in the unrestrained violence, only necessity.
Which is why Edward faced the jovial blond with obvious distaste. His eyes didn't flick away from the other's face even when a somewhat familiar man slunk by (another movie hero? Comic?) to enter the Pharmacy's door.
"I can see where this is going," Edward responded dryly, crouching low again. "Would you like the first move?"
no subject
"Wolfram," he said, pushing him off so that he could stand up. His legs were fine but the ground lurched as his head spun. John must have hit the wall harder then he thought.
"We... we need to keep moving," he said, closing his eyes for a minute as the sound in the hallway suddenly became too loud. He reached down and did his best to help Wolfram to his feet. "Come on. I thought I saw a hallway a bit further up."

“Oh can you now? I can see your enthusiasm oozing out from you.” Yuber remarked with an amused edge to his tone. It had been far too long since he’d had a worthy opponent. Sitting idly by within these walls was boring him far too much, and there was only so much entertainment one could get from the raging emotions of those around him. Yuber needed to feel the excitement of battle and the chaotic sense it would permeate. He craved to experience that feel again.
His mismatched gaze never once left his opponent even as Wolfram and his human companion left the area. Bringing up his sword to the right side of his face, Yuber’s lips curved up to form a pleased smirk on his features before he mockingly retorted. “How gracious,” The moment those words left the knight’s lips, Yuber leapt in towards his prey as he swept out with the blade to slice them horizontally in two.
He needed to test out not only his opponent’s strength, but his own as well.

The vampire followed through with his offer; he didn't flinch under witness to the coming onslaught. The only movement that came from him was a lower crouching, a slight bend in his knees, and the sliding of his left hand in front of him. The weapon wouldn't do anything - what would be the point in dodging?
He waited patiently for the moment when the sword would hit his skin - and then his left arm shot forward in a blinding movement, pinching the sword between his thumb and forefinger, stopping the movement of the weapon completely. The momentum of the swing didn't even make him shift his balance.
"I'd hate to shatter your weapon," he said, his face still placid, if not also disappointed. "I'd suggest not using it."
no subject
The arm shot out fast – even too fast for someone like him to entirely see – moments before his blade made contact with their body. His body remained half hunched over in attack as his blade was stopped in its tracks. “Che,” The sound was a natural reaction to having an attack blocked, but the sword was hardly the only ability up his sleeve. No, it was more of a way to entertain himself with the mortals he typically fought.
Still there was a definite aura around this one that seemed oddly familiar. The thought was a fleeting one though as his oddly-coloured eyes flickered over to regard that placid expression. He was getting the strangest feeling of déjà vu, and he almost laughed when instead of this male being standing in front of him, he saw the figure of that blasted woman Sierra instead.
“Perhaps, but it is hardly the only trick up my sleeve.” There was still an arrogant edge to Yuber’s voice as he spoke, but the tone was soon drowned out by the sound of a chime ringing through the air. His left hand instantly shot up to hit against his opponent’s chest as the image of a lightning bolt appeared above Yuber’s head. Electricity surged past his left palm as it attempted to wrap itself around Edward’s body.
no subject
Logan pushed his way through the door just as the chime went off. A small, distant voice in the back of his mind asked where that had come from, but all of his senses were focused on the exchange. His eyes widened significantly when he saw the image of the lightning bolt above the tall knight's head, seemingly from nowhere. But still, he was focused on Yuber's attack, and smiled broadly as the significance of the symbol became apparent. Now tha's a handy talen'. Jus' like 'Ro.
Carefully laying the box just beside the door to the pharmacy, Logan considered his options. If he moved in too quickly, he'd likely get hit by the lightning, too. Once was more than enough since he'd been here. Deciding to hold back for the moment, he took up position behind Edward and waited for the right moment to strike. This guy was probably a patient, so he would keep the knife in his waistband for the time being, lest he did something he would regret later. 'Soon as tha' lightnin's done, 's time ta play, his mind growled in anticipation.

He didn't expect much, and received the same. The bolt fizzled out pathetically once it touched his flesh, not even leaving a burn. Maybe this arrogance was well-earned in his own world, but for now the blond wasn't living up to it.
"I hope that wasn't the only trick as well," he taunted, his body moving slightly to the left. He could hear the other patient behind him - the buzz of his thoughts, mostly - and the vampire was getting irritated, not to mention thirsty. Practically empty of blood, and with all his power returned... it wouldn't even require a second thought.
But not now.
no subject
There were only two types of creatures in his realm that could take a direct hit of lightning and not show any adverse effects from the attack. This patient hardly looked to be made solely of bones which left him with the only other choice.
His demonic eye dilated subtly as he irritably accused. “You are undead?” Yuber stated more than asked. They, or vampires to be more precise, had the annoying tendency to be immune to such spells unless that useless scrap of metal was around. ‘Where is that fool when he’s actually useful for once?’ The knight acidly thought before he grunted in annoyance. Yuber yanked his weapon from the other’s grasp, and in the next moment, his figure disappeared without a trace leaving nothing but emptiness where the knight previously stood.
A few seconds passed by with no sight of the Black Knight before his presence reappeared directly beside Logan’s smaller frame. “I would suggest caution with this one.” He muttered to his companion. While Yuber wasn’t against retreating when the odds were against him, now just wasn’t the time for such things.
no subject
His mind almost balked at Yuber's question, but his will steeled it. Undead. A shiver started at the top of his spine, but was stopped halfway-down. Technically, he was undead, too. Moving closer, he almost laughed when Yuber suggested caution. Caution had a time and place, and this was neither. His mind raced as he spoke in response. "Heh, ya soun' like m'mother. I know what 'm doin'" He was already moving before he'd stopped talking. If this guy was a ghoul, or vampire, or whatever, he still looked like a human. And like all humans, gravity was not always his friend.
Leaping forwards, fists clenched, Logan attempted to body-check Yuber's assailant. After all, those who were on the ground were at a distinct disadvantage to those still on their feet.
no subject
Edward turned to face the two behind him almost lazily, particularly watching the shorter one. "Normally, I'd tell you not to retreat. But, at the moment, I think it's the better option for you." But the warning hadn't worked for the less volatile patients, so he knew it certainly wouldn't work here.
Couldn't blame him for trying. He knew what they all saw - even if the blond had put two and two together, and he was a little different than the vampires that Yuber was accostomed to.
The other didn't even really have a comparison.
He sighed, watching the other move in. Edward moved in response, barely tapping into his speed - appearing behind where Yuber now stood, a few feet away. "I'd rather not spill any blood if I could help it."
no subject
“How kind of you,” Yuber mocked in return to Edward’s words of retreat. If there was one thing he detested, it was being told what to do by a foolish opponent. While he’d follow orders given by his ‘superior’, he was hardly about to cower and bend to the will of those less worthy. Gripping the hilt of his sword tighter, the Black Knight cursed the dampeners hindering his true potential and the fact that his proper weapon was hidden from him. Fortunately; however, it seemed Logan was more than pleased to take up front position.
Yuber’s movements paused the moment before he was about to leap in and assist Logan with the attack. He felt more than saw the vampire move before sensing their presence directly behind him. ‘That was fast.’ He absently noted while turning around and reacting automatically. Leaping in towards his opponent, Yuber lashed out with his sword in an attempt to gouge out the vampire’s midsection while his left hand snapped out to tightly grasp onto their face as he activated his Thunder Rune for a second time. While he subconsciously knew it didn’t work the first time, it could prove to be distracting enough to land him a blow on the worthless sack of dead flesh.

Logan hadn't even registered that Yuber had moved to his side, he was already focusing on his attack. He'd seen the man disappear once at night, and hanging around the Elf for so long made it par for the course as far as he was concerned. What did surprise him however was the speed at which their opponent moved; only his lightning reflexes enabled him to tuck into a combat roll as he occupied the empty space where Edward had stood mere milliseconds previously.
He was on his feet and turned around the second after he hit floor, snarling as he faced off against the vampire once more. The snarl became a vicious grin as he watched Yuber at work; the taller man had wasted no time at all in reacting. The 'undead' assailant was fast, blindingly so, but the knight certainly showed he was no push over in terms of speed, either. Logan's animal instinct wordlessly snarled that it didn't think he was fast enough for this fight, but sometimes wits outmatched pure speed. Those were what he would need to rely upon if he was to come out on top.
He paused as Yuber summoned his rune once more. "Ain' gonna work, bub," he growled, but as the sword came down, he saw what the knight was trying to do. Obviously Yuber had no qualms about slicing up fellow patients, but if this guy was undead, Logan doubted it would be very effective. He hoped it worked however, at least to incapacitate the brain-washed patient long enough for them to get past. Logan inched closer to their assailant. Perhaps if he could close the distance, even get a grip on a limb, then speed would not be an issue. As before, he waited until the lightning died down before attempting to strike.
