Nightshift 30: F1-F10 Hallway.
[ inside f7]
“What?” Kairi had been in the middle of getting off of the bed when she heard the announcement the head doctor made, surprise overtaking her face. Hadn’t the man on the radio been well known? Hadn’t he helped all kinds of people?
Her look of shock slowly turned into a sad frown as she moved across the room, not saying a word other than the “what?” she had muttered before. This place was so horrible –
Moving to her dresser, Kairi pulled open the doors in hope of perhaps finding another flashlight. What she found instead was something much better (in her opinion, anyway) and much more useful!
“Oh!” she exclaimed happily as she pulled the pink dress out of the wardrobe, a grin crossing her lips. It had been such a long time since she had seen the pink dress she usually wore, and to see it now just randomly sitting inside the large wardrobe was a pleasant surprise! Before she could really even think, she slowly began to change into the outfit, pausing once she was done to look down.
She looked like herself again! (Minus the bandages, anyway)
Pumping her fists, Kairi did a quick hair flip and let out a happy giggle.
Now all there was to do was wait for Axel.
After a few moments of waiting, Kairi decided that perhaps it would be better to wait in the hall. After all, nothing would happen ... and if something suspicious came, she'd just run back into the room.

This was Kagura's room, then? Javert glanced back at Alec, then raised a hand and knocked firmly, feeling faintly apprehensive despite himself about entering a young lady's room.
Even if it was pretty much the same as every other patient room in the asylum.
"Mlle. Kagura? It's Javert."

Stopping to catch his breath was fine by him. He tried to keep his breathing shallow so the Frenchman wouldn't pick up on it and mock him incessantly, or worse, imply that he should spend the night in.

"Ah- Good evening Javert-san," she glanced apprehensively at the visitor, "who is your friend? Ah um... Leon-san is already here too," she took a step back, opening the door wide enough for them to enter if they wished.
no subject
"I'm Leon," he said with a nod in the new man's direction. He glanced back at Javert. "Everything all right out there?" He paused, then grinned slightly. "As all right as things around here get, I mean."

"Good evening, Mlle. Sohma, M. Leon. This," he gestured with a nod of his head, "is Alec Trevelyan, an...acquaintance of mine. Would it be all right if he traveled with us tonight?"
He glanced back down at the hallway, smirking slightly. "Not exactly. There's a Special Counseling patient just outside the patient rooms - that's why we got here late. Sounds like Landel wants to make things especially interesting for us tonight."

So these were Javert's traveling companions. Mlle. Sohma, as the Inspector had called her, looked to be about as useful as Nadine, but he wouldn't judge her on just that. Maybe she would be like the girl who'd started the riot this morning. M. Leon, though, he looked like someone Trevelyan could feel comfortable wandering around with.
And what the hell was that look Javert had given him, anyway? He'd puzzle it out as the night wore on. It didn't quite look like irritation, which was something he'd gotten used to.

She looked curiously at Javert, "Special... Counseling? What does that mean? Should we... just go a different way?"

At least, that was what Luffy had said. Javert had no reason to doubt the boy's words. "They're dangerous, to say the least; the one in the hallway out there had a sword and moved with superhuman speed. We could take another route, but it would take far longer, and something worse could be lurking in the recreational field."

He pondered Javert's words. Either way was perilous, and could likely end their lives in one fell swoop. But the danger of the unknown really didn't appeal to him at this point in time. Maybe if he'd been on top form.
Trevelyan was beginning to wonder if Javert hadn't had it right after all.
"I think we should go back the way we came," he said. "Better the devil you know..." Normally he wasn't overly-cautious, but normally his head wasn't full of cotton wool.

"Worse?" Kagura's voice was tinged with fear. Something worse than the bugs or the giant kitty cats too?! "O-oh dear..." She didn't want to delay the others though, if they really thought that was the best plan. Kagura hesitated for a moment, but nodded her head in agreement. "Then... then I guess we should go," she said finally, her voice painfully quiet.

I'm part of his effort, along with a few others, and we all knew that this day might come. I was the one who was chosen to take over in the event that he -- well, you know. So I'm going to be doing my best to give you guys a hand now, if you'll let me.
Leon raised an eyebrow at the radio as it clicked off. "That's encouraging," he said. "If it's genuine."
He sighed and gestured to the door. "We should go," he said. After a moment's pause, he looked back at the radio, then to Kagura. "Mind if we bring the radio along?"
no subject
He was, of course suspicious about the whole thing, but then again he usually was. "Take it along if you like," he said. "I doubt we'll have time to go on any wild goose chases tonight, but anything we hear is bound to be informative in one way or another."
Nodding at the group, he headed back the way he and Trevelyan had come.
