Nightshift 30: East Wing, North Hall 1-A
[From here.]
Jade was met with more silence as he stepped out of his patient block all together, keeping his senses wide open in case anything was prowling about further downward. It looked as if he had beaten the rush, if but slightly, yet his destination was still far from his grasp.
The Colonel was looking forward to leaving the blocks, having been confined there for the past few days without much to do but wander to aimlessly with his comrades. Yes, a change of pace was in order, much to the point where he hardly felt guilty about it, if at all. He had taken it as part of his responsibility to find some means of escape, and hanging around the sidelines wasn't bound to do anyone any good.
Now that his eyes had fully adjusted to the darkness, Jade quickened his pace and strode forward into the next hallway.

To occupy his thoughts, Roland started unscrewing his flashlight to obtain the batteries therein, keeping some lightning in his grip just in case. Better to be prepared than otherwise. "...but if she doesn't show up soon, I suppose we could move on. Assuming the people walking this way have left anything behind."

Dammit. Why couldn't he ever stop thinking about them? Nothing irritated the redhead more than being unable to control his thoughts. It had been a long time since he had been. One of Gale's I do not comprehends explained the situation well.
Lifting in eyebrow in question and Roland's actions, Heat shifted impatiently. "The field is where you're planning to go, isn't it?"

"Should that fail, there's the kitchen area. Assuming that Prithivi isn't stationed there." It was rather ironic, though. it seemed like both Agni and Indra had been stationed in that same area over the course of several nights. Surely, whatever was in the basement was well worth the effort of protecting with such terrible guardians.

"Prithvi isn't interested in anything except a good meal tonight," Argilla said as she approached, a faint smile on her lips when she overheard their conversation. She nodded to Roland and Heat when she joined them, oddly comforted to have her tribe next to her, even if one of them was adopted and one of them was a traitor.

It could be worse, he bargained. It could be Serph.
The thought of his former leader made his next words come out in a low growl. "Now that we're all here, let's get a fucking move on." He didn't need to emphasize the hunger to them, and maybe that in itself was a sort of... he didn't want to say relief, because it wasn't something Heat felt, but it was... somewhat close. Perhaps it was part of the pack mindset: to be with creatures exactly like oneself.
Whatever it was, he was more than happy to light a fire under their asses.

So he walked to the door, taking the lead and stepping outside. Serph or Gale would have been a good thing, but without them, someone had to take the lead. And at least Heat seemed more interested in working with them than eating them, for the moment. At the moment, Roland would take what positives he could get.
