Orihime was escorted back to her room, and though the nurse was being cheerful and encouraging about her behavior she said nothing in response, trying to puzzle out her feelings instead. The riot had died down quickly enough and it looked like neither side had taken any serious injuries but one part of it still troubled her. How would the other patients feel once they were allowed back outside? Would they be happy that they'd gotten the chance to fight, or would they feel overwhelmed by the odds stacked against them, or would they be driven to become stronger and overcome those odds?

There would be repercussions from the staff too but she wasn't nearly so worried about those. It was more important that the others didn't feel defeated by this. She knew at least a few who wouldn't.

She shifted back on the bed to lean against the wall and draw her knees up. There were other things on her mind too. On her first night, she'd been too relived at how different this place was compared to Hueco Mundo and after that she'd always come in after Tear. They were just getting to know each other but the other girl's presence was enough to fill the room.

Now, she looked around at clean, empty space and felt like a stranger. For now, this was home and after that it would be back to Hueco Mundo or into a long, bloody war. The Karakura she'd been so happy to describe seemed a long way off.

Truly alone for the first time in a long while, Orihime pressed her forehead against her knees and let herself cry.
