Nightshift 29: East Wing, North Hall 2-B
[[From Here]]
They seemed to be having good fortune thus far. The shouting and voices died out as they hurried further down the hall; luckily that area was already on their map. It looked like there were a few doors ahead though, that had yet to be added. He hadn't seen any Akuma yet, but his eye didn't work nearly as well here as it once had. Nothing seemed to. Allen lead the way through the darkness, treading cautiously into the unfamiliar territory.

She mentally kicked herself, whispering quietly to herself, "Stop being silly, Rinali." She was, worried about what lie in the darkness. She went up against things ten times worse than the horrors that could be found here...or had she? Did she really have the courage to face monsters and Akuma?
It was a question that plagued her thoughts as she followed behind Allen. Was she as strong as she believed she was?

Running head-on at the door seemed like a bad idea, but he didn't want to waste what little bit of his Innocence he could use on something as simple as a door. If he'd thought to bring something along, he might've been able to pick the lock, but rusted as it was, maybe a good sharp kick or two would do the trick. Of course... it would also likely be noisy...
Allen wavered for a moment in indecision before slamming his fist into the door. Even when it wasn't invoked, his arm was strong enough to stop bullets, so it shouldn't take too much to break in. "Watch our backs," he glanced behind at Rinali. The door was loose, but one more hit would probably do it.
He pulled back his fist and swung.

Luckily for them, it seemed their predecessors were interested in a different room. The formerly locked door to the Decontamination Room was broken open and Okita could hear voices from inside. They were whispering, so beyond the fact that there were people in the room Okita couldn't tell anything else. He wondered if they were the only ones, however, and kept moving forward.
He reached the end of the hall without seeing any further evidence of patient activity and stopped at the final door. Beyond this lay the morgue and connected to that were the autopsy rooms. Okita tested the knob and was a little disappointed that it was indeed locked. He supposed it was too much to ask that such a vital area remain open to the public, however.
Stepping back, he drew his sword and motioned to the others to wait for a moment. He'd be the first in to check for danger, then the group could move. Holding his katana tight in one hand, he kicked hard at the door once, twice and then the lock snapped.
He almost felt like rushing in and shouting the usual "This is the Shinsengumi. Surrender your weapons!" but he refrained. How silly would he look doing that?

Briefly, he wondered what was to their left that had deterred Yuber... but didn't ask, as they moved on to the next hallway, simply following the taller man. While he was normally happy to ask a million questions about anything, Yuber was far briefer in reply than the aliens Zelnick had spent much of the past four years with.

Glancing back over his shoulder towards Zelnick, he regarded the human thoughtfully for a moment before moving to enter into the next room. “Prepare yourself.”

Zelnick followed Yuber back to the hallway, bag and flashlight in tow; they turned right, back the way they had come.

"Just be wary, there are people who can supposedly read minds here, so stay on guard," Wesker didn't think that many telepaths would have reason to search Birkin's brain, but there was no telling.

The doctor shrugged. "Yes, yes, I'll be careful."

The noble finally paused just within the north hall, turning to face Kyon. Having moved swiftly and silently, now was the time for a few brief comments. Not even Aidou expected a dimwit to follow without some sort of warning, and conversely, Aidou didn’t want him to. Making his intentions clear was key.
“Now listen, I took you with me because I don’t have the time to fool around with you elsewhere. I’m going to find out what’s in this hallway, regardless of what creatures are here, or if other prisoners are being hurt. If something attacks us or strikes your moral compass, don’t interfere. Just keep going. Got it?”

He didn't show it though. God forbid he show a weakness to this guy.
The area they had run through had also gotten steadily familiar to him. They were near the place he'd been experimented on. One of the hallways they'd run through was the same that he'd been thrown out on by the doctor, he was sure. Again, Kyon kept this to himself.
When Aidou finally spoke he just nodded his head, "Got it." He glanced up at him (not much, they were near the same height) and finally asked, "What is it that you're after. Someone you know get taken?" He wasn't sure of Aidou's motives before, but, as they were getting closer to the area, it was the best assumption Kyon had.
Slowly though, something rancid leaked from the door that Aidou wanted in, and Kyon all but covered his nose in great disgust. "Good God!"

With no small contradiction, Aidou was less surprised at the smell, but if anything, far more repulsed. It was, indeed, enough to make anyone wretch. The angles of Aidou's face again seemed to shift from youthful and soft to sharp and steely. It wasn't hard to insult a vampire's sense of dignity with the abominations this place manufactured, and the source of such a foul odour was no different. Not human. Not vampire. Not worth allowing to live.
"What I want is surely no different from anyone else," he carried on, like nothing was terribly amiss. The unnatural glint in his eyes, he reserved for the door to the decontamination room, by now long broken in. "Answers. That's all. And don't vomit, that will only add to the mess." I won't confess to Akatsuki's presence just so you can profane it.

Keeping his hand firmly covering his nose, Kyon gave him another nod. No, he really wasn't in the mood to vomit, either. Not like he'd eaten much in the past day to vomit up, but just the same.

Rinali bolted out the room, holding the piece of cloth she had ripped off of her shirt to the bleeding wound in her neck. It hurt, but it hurt more to know that he brother was struggling for his life in the other room. She remembered the way they had come, and rushed down the hall.
