Main Hallway, 1-East

[From here.]

It didn't take long for Ururu to make it to the meeting place, since really, it was right outside her door. Maybe that's why she was the first one there. She shined her flashlight around slowly, thinking it was awfully dark and awfully quiet right now.

Maybe other people had been sleeping too, and just hadn't woken up in time.

Ururu moved over by the stairwell she thought Rangiku had meant, and watched the area around her with wide eyes. It wasn't that she didn't think she couldn't take care of herself, because she knew she could. It was just that everything looked so different at night, when it was dark, and she was alone.

And all of that put together really made everything seem scary.

"Metal," Hisoka replied simply. It wouldn't hurt to tell her that much and maybe she knew of where to go. Hisoka made sure to remain vague, though, he didn't know who this woman was or what she wanted and without his empathy at its full strength he could only really on instincts alone.

And instincts couldn't read minds.

The boy nodded at her introduction, turning his eyes to once again examine the possible routes he could take. "Kurosaki Hisoka."

"Japanese?" she asked curiously, then turned her attention to the corridor again. "Metal, hmm? Any particular type? There's always the chairs in the cafeteria. Or the kitchens, with all the utensils and pans. If you're looking for sturdier... I bet there's some maintenance or utility storage outside. I don't think they'd keep that in here, and I already know there's not a whole lot in the janitors closets they do keep in here. Does that help at all?"

Hisoka frowned as he thought it over. Considering the metal was needed to make a katana, it would probably have to be much stronger than a simple kitchen knife. The legs of the chairs in the cafeteria sounded somewhat suitable, but then again, he was probably safer trying to find the utility storage closest (or shed) like Max had mentioned. That, or go along with Renji's suggestion to check the bathrooms. Though, once again, he didn't have the kind of tools to pull apart pipes.

The boy sighed, nodding in response to Max's question. "It does, thank you," Hisoka replied. "Do you know where'd I'd be able to find the utility storage?"

"Outside - near the courtyard or rec field, I'd guess," Max answered, looking thoughtful as she eyed the boy. "But the only times I've made it there, there were always things lurking in the courtyard. Not to mention the birds from the other night. And there's almost always something in the sunroom. You shouldn't try to go through alone. If you don't mind a bodyguard, I can come along."

[identity profile] somber-secret.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Almost as if a switch had been thrown, Hisoka's polite (if wary) disposition turned somewhat sour at the offer. Every time someone offered to go along with him they ended up stalling or they never made it to where they needed to go for whatever reason--so it was understandable for him to be unhappy at the suggestion.

"I appreciate your help," Hisoka started. "But I've got nothing done for almost a week thanks to delays, I really don't need anymore."

[identity profile] transgenix.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Max snorted. "I know the feeling," she replied, rolling her eyes. "It gets a bit ridiculous. Well, the offer still stands. If you promise not to slow me down, I promise not to slow you down, and I think two people stand a chance of getting through the sunroom than one, even if pause to play decoy so you can get across faster."

[identity profile] somber-secret.livejournal.com 2008-01-25 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Promise not to slow her down? Hisoka had no intention of slowing anyone down, not now nor ever, but he was quiet as he thought over the offer again. She was right, as much as he hated to admit it. It would be so much easier to get past the larger creatures if there was something to keep it busy and, by the sounds of it, the woman didn't enjoy being slowed down either.

But people were habitual liars too.

Hisoka sighed and shrugged in defeat. "Fine."

"But don't let me trouble you if you think you can do it all on your own. Such a pesky thing, testosterone," she sighed mournfully, although her dark eyes glinted with teasing amusement. Patting him on the head, she turned and started walking down the hall towards the sunroom.

"Well, I'll leave it up to you, then. Come or go as you like. I'll head out to find a utility shed either way. It'd be nice to find something useful for a weapon anyway."

[identity profile] somber-secret.livejournal.com 2008-01-29 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
...What? Hisoka's eye twitched dangerously as he stalked after her, the decision having already been made. That didn't mean he had to enjoy being treated like a little kid. Tsuzuki did that enough as it was! The boy scowled, focusing the majority of his attention on his surroundings in effort to prevent sulking.

"I said 'fine', didn't I?" Hisoka muttered darkly.

Max laughed and flashed him a bright grin over her shoulder. "Don't get grouchy, I'm just teasing you," she replied in amusement, her dark eyes glinting with laughter. She lifted a finger to her lips in a warning to be quiet.

"Careful, though. I've never seen a nightshift where there wasn't something lurking in the Sunroom."
