Day 29: Sun Room

It was with some relief that Yuuhi awoke the next morning, in his own bed, sore and tired and achy.  He would've slept more had they let him, his face down in the pillow, away from all the others and their questions and their concern.  He didn't want to see them, but he managed a little smile when the nurse came in and didn't object when she lead him out into the open hallway that had been splattered with blood, plenty of it his, just last night.

The Chapel or the Sun Room?  He felt he had good reason not to be terribly religious and had a feeling he wouldn't be very welcome there anyway.  The Sun Room would be nice though.  It was bright and cheery and he could always doodle or write notes on the community board if he'd nothing better to do.  Besides, the nurse was kind enough to let him take a book with him.

He found a seat on one of the couches, far from the entrance and seated himself in the far corner, legs scrunched up against his chest so he only took up one of the cushions.  He opened up where he'd left off, fingers carefully turning the worn pages  of Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

Having successfully punched Zelgadis, Mason turned back to the blond guy.

"No, c'mon mate. Now's as good as whenever. But," the reaper continued, crossing his arms, "I don't so much do shit for credit. No offense or anything, I am sure you are a very honorable gentleman."

He didn't see Zelgadis' kick coming, and it caught him in the side, sending him stumbling backwards.

"Oh that's it," Mason growled. "You are fucking done you little pissface!" With a growl, he lunged at Zelgadis, arms outstretched, hoping to tackle to teen to the ground.

Jack watched as the fight unfolded once again. Yeah, he wasn't going to stick around to see himself get sedated for something that didn't even concern him. He'd figure out a better way, at another time, to get that whiskey from Mason. Subtly, but quickly, the Fable inched away from the other two men...

Zelgadis leaped out of the way of Mason's reach, happily noticing that he still had some speed left.

But unbalanced drunkard fell into his shoulder, taking Zelgadis to the ground.

"Get off!"

He said, pushing at the larger man's weight.

Mason grinned, proud that he'd managed to tackle Zelgadis. Keeping his weight on the teenager as best he could, the reaper aimed his fist directly between Zelgadis' eyes.

Zelgadis was unable to push the man off, but did manage to see the fist coming. Why did he always going for the face.

He caught the fist in his hand with some difficulty, raising his knee hard into Mason's stomach.

The nurse had hoped the two men were just wrestling. Even then, she thought she should probably go over and break it up. However, by the time she motioned to the orderlies, the fight had turned serious and she could feel the headache starting to push its way forward. Why did these people always get so violent?

Stepping up behind the two men, she pointed down and two orderlies dragged them to their feet and separated them. They made sure to keep a firm grip on both patients so they couldn't fight back or get away.

"Mr. Deacon and Mr. Conason, is it? Would you like to explain just what got this all started or do I need to teach you both a lesson about why fighting is not allowed in Landel's Institute?" she snapped, ready to pull out the needles if they refused to listen to her. She may have been a petite woman, but her voice was commanding and it was obvious she wasn't going to take any flack.

Mason sneered at the nurse and the orderly that was holding him away from Zelgadis. He wasn't fond of the teenager, but better him than a prissy little bitch in a white uniform and two great hulking dumbfucks.

He tried to signal Zelgadis, attempting to tell him with only eye movements that together they could fight off the orderlies. Of course, Mason might choose not to participate in any battles with orderlies, but he'd decide that when he saw how effectively Zelgadis could actually fight them.

"He's a wanker," Mason explained, struggling slightly against the orderly that held him. He hoped that Zelgadis realized that he really thought he was a wanker, but in this case he didn't really mean it because they should be friends united against a common enemy.

Zelgadis decided not to struggle against the orderly--anything that got the large man off him was a good thing.

He glared at Mason, who seemed to be giving him complicated morse code signals using his eyelids. Mason then said something, using some word he'd never heard before in that odd accent of him.

It was frustrating-- Zelgadis was used to knowing pretty much everything.

"What does that even mean?!?!" He yelled.

The nurse rolled her eyes when Stephen chimed up and when Terry inevitably fired back. This was just the worst situation and if she let it stay this way, they'd just end up brawling again.

Turning first to Stephen, she stepped up right in front of him and glared hard into his eyes. Even if she was small, she had the aura of someone who could and would slap a man twice her size across the street if he crossed her the wrong way. "You, Mr. Deacon, need to stop harrassing this patient before I'm forced to take further actions. It doesn't matter who threw the first punch, you'll both get sedated if you fight anymore. Understand me?"

There she switched her even gaze to Terry and frowned. "That goes for you, too, Mr. Conason. I'm separating you two for now and you're not to go near each other again for at least one more shift. If I see anything out of either of you, I won't be as merciful."

Motioning sharply to the two orderlies, she stepped back and waited for the two patients to be sent to opposite sides of the room.

In a fit of resigned frustration, Zelgadis allowed himself to be taken to the end of the room. But he wasn't going to take a broken nose that easily-- he'd find time to get Mason back later.
