Day 29: Sun Room
It was with some relief that Yuuhi awoke the next morning, in his own bed, sore and tired and achy. He would've slept more had they let him, his face down in the pillow, away from all the others and their questions and their concern. He didn't want to see them, but he managed a little smile when the nurse came in and didn't object when she lead him out into the open hallway that had been splattered with blood, plenty of it his, just last night.
The Chapel or the Sun Room? He felt he had good reason not to be terribly religious and had a feeling he wouldn't be very welcome there anyway. The Sun Room would be nice though. It was bright and cheery and he could always doodle or write notes on the community board if he'd nothing better to do. Besides, the nurse was kind enough to let him take a book with him.
He found a seat on one of the couches, far from the entrance and seated himself in the far corner, legs scrunched up against his chest so he only took up one of the cushions. He opened up where he'd left off, fingers carefully turning the worn pages of Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

It was actually a pretty discouraging thing to think about, and Obi-Wan tried not to dwell on it for too long once he'd opened his eyes. This wasn't exactly the first time he hadn't gotten anything done by any means, as painful as it was to admit it, but this had to be a leading record for Biggest Waste of Time since his arrival at Landel's.
It was odd, though. The night hadn't last nearly as long as it should have. Unless, of course, there were gaps in Obi-Wan's memory, which was entirely possible. To be honest, no one had any proof that people weren't suffering from a kind of amnesia. Prisoners just seemed to assumed they magically wound up in their beds, which was, of course, completely ludicrous...
He took a deep breath as the nurse escorted him from his room. It wouldn't do to get frustrated so early in the day. Obi-Wan figured he would just have to make today count for something. As it turned out, today was the day he got to choose between the sun room or the chapel. Had it really been only a week ago that he'd seen Martin Landel with his own eyes?
Time certainly crawled in this place.
Ultimately, Obi-Wan decided to go to the sun room. He had a feeling the Head Doctor wasn't going to show himself again in such a predictable way, after all.
It didn't take the Jedi Knight long to get situated on one of the sofas. With his hands neatly clasped in his lap, he closed his eyes and tried to gather his thoughts together by figuring out what he wanted to do today. That was always the first step in getting things done.

Harry felt a headache coming up on him. The words of the Head Doctor made him worry, but he made up his mind not to think about it too much. At least not before breakfast.
He didn't feel like going to the Chapel, religion has never, ever been something in his life. It wasn't as if his aunt and uncle had ever taken him to church. So instead Harry went to the Sun Room to relax for a bit, or as much as he could in this place.
He looked around and did a double-take to one of men already in the room. Harry had been taking from his world a year before The Phantom Menace had been released, but he still thought that he vaguely recognized the face before him from movies that his aunt had watched that were set in small English towns and dealt with some woman hooking up with some man and things going terribly wrong before they got their happy ending.
He couldn't help but stare a bit, trying to remember what movie and what actor he was being reminded of.

Jedi were trained to always be aware of their surroundings, even while meditating. Actually, his senses were often heightened at least to some degree, even in Landel's, if he was focused enough. That's why he was aware of the young prisoner staring at him, even if his eyes were closed.
He thought about just ignoring him and continuing with what he was doing. After all, he hadn't really had a chance to properly collect his thoughts in awhile. But Qui-Gon himself had stated that part of getting out of here would involve getting to know their fellow prisoners, and, with an inward sigh, Obi-Wan allowed himself to surface from his meditations.
After opening his eyes, he looked up at the young man. "Can I help you?" he asked with a small smile.

"I don't think we've ever met," Obi-Wan replied after a moment. "But you wouldn't be the first stranger to recognize me." A dry smile. "I seem to have a bit of a reputation."
He relaxed from his meditating position, though his hands were still neatly clasped in his lap. "Then again, I suppose it isn't unusual to find familiar faces in this place." He gazed at the boy, looking a little curious now. "What's your name?"

"Pleased to meet you, Harry," the Jedi replied, bowing his head politely. A character from a book, though? He could certainly relate to that. "I get similar reactions from people, to be honest. My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi."
no subject
"I didn't mean to throw off whatever you were doing," he said honestly. "Was it something like ... meditation?" He couldn't help but be curious. If Obi-Wan wanted to be left in peace Harry would leave him be, but otherwise it wouldn't hurt to try and make friends.
no subject
"And, yes, I was meditating, actually," he added. "It was a daily habit of mine before coming here, so I try to keep it up as best as I can, especially now."
