Day 29: Chapel

Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.

But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.

Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.

It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.

[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

Whereas Adelheid was still a little battered from the brunt of fighting an orderly and an Aquila; his hands were still sore and bruised from channeling his ki, and fighting was not something he wanted to do, usually. But if the Head Doctor showed up? That weariness would be gone in an instant. If anything could drive Adelheid to superhuman endeavors, it'd be the Head Doctor.

Just a shame he hadn't been in the town.

The teenager chuckled as he stretched out his long legs, keeping on the right side of Edward so that his false eye wasn't easily visible, and easily answered, "You aren't supposed to sleep in church, so I hope he shows up. If that happens... I think I won't make the same mistake as last time."

Adel looked tired too. He wasn't surprised after what had happened last night. It would wear anyone out, even without having to perform alchemy or use power like Adel could. But still they hoped to try their chances against the Head Doctor.

"I can sleep in a chruch if I want to," he replied. What was a church to him? It was a dead religion where he was from. "If he shows up, then we've got each other to back us up this time."

Hah, wasn't that amusing? Adelheid had forgotten how brightly a skeptic Edward could be. That wasn't a luxury he had on his own world, but... well, he'd already known that his world wasn't exactly the easiest to live in. Perhaps that was why he'd managed to survive for so long? It was a morbid way to put it, but still, the possibility was there.

"I suppose that's fine, if it's not dedicated to any deity," Adelheid mused out loud. It was amazingly irreverent to him, but Edward was not him- very thankfully. But what Ed was saying after that made Adelheid grin as well. He knew that Edward Elric was a strong fighter, and Ed wasn't tired; that meant they could both do rather well. "I have a plan, if he does show up. This time, one of us is at least going to make him think twice before trying to taunt us."

Ed shrugged dismissively. "I napped in the Temple Of Leto," he said. "Admittedly, that was a religion designed to prey on the people foolish enough to believe it and relieve them of their money and create an army before I destroyed it, but its the same thing." He smiled slightly at Adel. "Religion isn't really done in Amestris." The Ishbalans had their religion of course, and there were folk religions, but the majority of the country weren't so interested.

He smirked, anticipation growing within him. "We'll make them regret what they've done."
