NIGHTSHIFT 28: M31-M40 HALLWAY
(From here.)
Artemis poked his head into Farfarello's room, and seeing that there wasn't anything waiting for him, entered. "Right," He stopped in the middle of the room and turned, "Where do we start?"
Why did the room suddenly feel like it was the size of a matchbox?

"Though I reserve the right to think you're completely mad for your feelings. I'm sure there's someone more suited for you than me."

Re: M36
"I'm not used to having personal conversations."
Re: M36
"That's because you get all prickly."
Re: M36
"I don't get prickly."
Re: M36
"You do get prickly. Very prickly. And you get that look on your face."
Re: M36
"It's not prickly. I can't speak on personal subjects, Shana. Not without a great deal of difficulty."
Re: M36
"You're speaking of them now. Sort of. You have all day."
Re: M36
It had all been rather shallow talk, regardless of the subject matter.
"It's difficult to explain."
Re: M36
"Try?" she asked, peering up at him as she carefully rolled over to curl up on her side, watching him as she pillowed her cheek on the back of her hand.

They were venturing into dangerous territory again. What was taking Shadow so long? Or was this part of his plan? Leave them alone until something happened....

He sighed and shifted, folding his hands behind his head as he lay on his back on the bed. He swore he heard a thread of something....
Maybe it was just his imagination. Maybe.
Re: M36
"I'm sorry I'm too stubborn, Valyn," she murmured softly, only half-aware that she was doing so, her mind slowly drifting closer to the edge of sleep and therefore not controlling the admission slipping past her lips. "I wish I could be what you wanted."
Re: M36
He was tempted to wriggle away, out of Shana's grip, but he supposed there was no harm in letting her sleep on him. They'd wake up apart.
"Don't apologize, you're being silly." Shadow had been gone a long while. Too long. Now worry was creeping in, gripping him.
