At this point, he was too angry to kick himself for letting it slip. "It would be just wonderful if everyone would cease and desist holding my hand while I tie my shoelaces! Hokuto blinked at the spark, but well, most people around here had some magic. "We're all stressed out," she pointed out. "I'm probably one of the only people here who isn't wishing myself elsewhere every moment of the day and night. I'm sorry people have been thinking that just because you can't fight means you're useless--but we all have different strengths and weaknesses. If we need to make any plans tonight, you probably will be the one we turn to."

Eventually, she was sure, the stress would get to her too. Actually seeing Subaru again (...was he still here?) meant so much to her--but it didn't do much for her worry about him. And as long as he was here, she had to stay too... which meant if it all ever got to be too much, deliberately getting killed in a fight wasn't an option anymore.

Though... Momo probably wouldn't have let that happen, anyway. All any of them had was each other, and they had to depend on each other. Artemis couldn't fight--at the moment--but until he learned, he could do other things. They all had different talents--and that was a good thing.

"I don't care if knowing you carried him makes him uncomfortable," Momo said to Farfarello quietly as they walked. "The point is to get him from point A to point B as quickly and safely as we can. He can just suck it up and deal."

The shinigami could hear Artemis' words as they moved. For as smart as he supposedly is, the boy certainly was dumb sometimes. He never bothered to think about the situation and respond like a rational adult before letting his temper take control. Fine. Let him be angry and have his fit. He was fourteen and barely through puberty if that. Tomorrow she might care, but at the moment there was little Momo cared about aside from Hitsugaya's safety.

"And as long as we get there safely, I don't care who the hell you are, Farfarello-san, nor why Hitsugaya doesn't like you."

Farfarello nodded at Momo, content with that level of detente--she wouldn't give him grief if he didn't give her a reason to. Good enough. Now, for the more problematic one... "If you'll excuse me."

Lengthening his stride to catch up with Artemis, Farfarello spoke in a low voice, "And who, exactly, is holding your hand, Artemis? The experienced give the orders. You follow them, until you have knowledge of your own to contribute. Which you will, soon enough. In the meantime, you trust in the experience of those around you. That's not hand-holding, that's chain of command."

No more hesitation; he turned right to the hallway; it was pretty much the home stretch. Just one more and he was in his block.

Renji ran down this hallway, too, barely slowing down enough to get in to the door of the first M-block. He was rather relieved that he remembered what room number Suou had used for the previous night for his clinic. He doubted that it would have changed.

The walk was only short, and almost immediately after turning the corner, Yuber made his way towards the second door on the right. Opening it up, he walked through it while leaving it opened for his companion to enter in.

Turning the corner shortly after Yuber, Cloud pushed a stray piece of hair from his eyes as he walked. He walked through the door and shut it behind him before continuing to trail after Yuber.

Especially after last night, roaming the halls unarmed was not making Raine happy. It helped that she wasn't alone, but if she and Rein got into a fight that was bad enough, they could easily run out of magic before the monsters were more than hurting.

It's best not to think about it.

As soundlessly as he could manage, he crept along the hallway. There were others, but none seemed like a threat, most of them were injured from what he could observe. Though he was sure it left a lovely trail of blood and the scent of fear for any monsters to follow. He'd best move quickly.

The flashlight bumping against the side of his leg, Renji ran down the hall, back toward the entry way. He had to hope that Rukia had already made it back in.

How was it Renji was so fast? Allen had left just moments before him, but he'd already been passed up. Allen chalked it up to the fact that Renji was just far too tall, it certainly wasn't Allen's fault he hadn't hit his growth spurt just yet. Besides! He was getting taller! Just a little slowly.

Hokuto nodded; no use making targets of themselves. Any questions she had would probably get answered soon enough.

She wasn't letting herself hope, not yet. If Momo was right, if getting outside the walls when they weren't supposed to meant the return of their full powers... she'd certainly get to see a good show.

The halls were dark, making it difficult to see, still Rukia moved as though she were hot on the trail of someone or something. And despite his long legs, it was still difficult to keep up without knocking into things.

Her shout revealed the source of her concern. Perhaps Renji was among the injured. Was there a second clinic? Despite his worry, he kept his mouth shut. Talk was likely not what they needed at the moment.

Rukia heard Fai's hurried footsteps behind her, but they hardly registered. Concentrating for a moment, she realized that Renji was somewhere near his room... M42. She didn't know how he had gotten there so quickly, and didn't really care at the moment. She just knew that he was still alive - or as alive as shinigami got.

Her heart pounding in her chest, Rukia continued on, through the doorway into the north hallway.
