Day 28: Main Street

[from here]

Momo headed down what she suspected was the center street for the town. She noted the various businesses as she walked, as well as the increased staff presence, and kept to herself. If she was going to be wandering around lost in her own thoughts, she might as well get a feel for the town.

Maybe she'd make a map once she had a better idea.

There were a ton of shops to look at, and Guy found himself barely keeping track of where he was going since he was too busy taking everything in and trying to see if there was anything that might actually be helpful. He didn't think they would have the time to go into each and every store, after all. They only had a day and it wasn't likely that they would even get to stay until sunset.

While the architecture and general layout wasn't very much like Auldrant, the lines of stores was somewhat similar to how the main stretch of Grand Chokmah was laid out. It looked a lot different, but the general concept was the same. Not that there were any castles or mansions around here. This seemed more like St. Binah or even Engeve in that respect.

Completely unaware of Claude's moral dilemma, Guy only tuned in when the sheriff's office was mentioned. It was pretty frustrating that they wouldn't be believed, even though they were out among real people, some who might not have any clue of the horrors that were taking place not that far away. It wasn't fair, that they were actually out of that place and yet they couldn't actually get away.

At Claude's question, Guy forced himself to stop dwelling and instead just focused on answering. "Not really. I mean, none of them really look very much like this. There are small towns like this, though."

He found himself distracted from the conversation when he caught sight of a store called "T&M Electronics." That sounded interesting. He placed his hand on Claude's shoulder to get his attention and then pointed it out. "Hey, check it out."

Claude couldn't help but wonder what kinds of towns Auldrant had if they weren't much like this one. Maybe they resembled Expel, or perhaps Expel a couple of hundred years down the road? There were so many planets out there, so many different possibilities to consider. It was a little daunting to think about sometimes, but Claude figured he wanted to learn about as many places as he could during his life.

In fact, he was about to ask Guy to elaborate further when the other man placed a hand on his shoulder and gestured towards a shop not too far from them.

"T&M Electronics, huh?" he said, and he had to admit his own interest had been piqued, especially once he caught sight of the radios and televisions on display. It reminded him of an antique store, except for the fact that everything he could see was in shockingly good condition. "Sounds interesting. Let's go take a look."
