Day 28: Main Street

[from here]

Momo headed down what she suspected was the center street for the town. She noted the various businesses as she walked, as well as the increased staff presence, and kept to herself. If she was going to be wandering around lost in her own thoughts, she might as well get a feel for the town.

Maybe she'd make a map once she had a better idea.

"Gotcha!" Luffy said brightly. Man, this was awesome. It wasn't very often Nami practically asked him to cause trouble. This was, like, the greatest set-up ever. Luffy was determined to take full advantage of it. It sounded exciting!

"'I wonder how much this hammer costs'," Luffy repeated carefully. It'd be different if he had to remember to say it, but since he was just listening for it, he figured he could manage that pretty well. "Got it!"

As for the Cat Lady name...well, it wasn't the first time someone had asked him about it, but it never occurred to him to stop using it even though it seemed to confuse people sometimes. "And, yeah, my Cat Lady, she's not so bad, really," Luffy said. "I mean, she's actually pretty nice! It just sucks she won't let me out of here."

He laughed a little. "And I call her that because she calls me Timothy Cats. When I first heard her call me that, I figured she just liked kitties a lot or something, you know?" Because obviously that was the logical thing to assume in that kind of situation.

Nami resisted the urge to bury her face in her hand and sigh theatrically. Timothy Cats. She thought about this for a moment, then stuck her tongue out at her friend for a brief moment, and grinned. "Well, you wouldn't call me a Monkey Lady if I called you Monkey D. Luffy, would you?"

The navigator couldn't foresee any more kinks in their plan, especially since her captain was such a showman. But, at the same time, she was on edge. It took gumption to pull off a successful heist. And while she was sure she and Luffy had plenty of gumption, the nurses were obnoxious.

And there was also the chance that Nami wouldn't know what anything in the hardware store was, that it was just that different from what they were used to back home. Would that Usopp were here with them!

Well, there was no turning back now. She took a deep breath and opened the door to the hardware store, a confident smile on her face.
