Day 28: Main Street

[from here]

Momo headed down what she suspected was the center street for the town. She noted the various businesses as she walked, as well as the increased staff presence, and kept to herself. If she was going to be wandering around lost in her own thoughts, she might as well get a feel for the town.

Maybe she'd make a map once she had a better idea.

[to Kelley Street]

The doctor's words made Anise's smile fade for just a moment. It was true; there had been at least one person in her life she had felt that way about. But there wasn't a doctor on Auldrant who could have given him the strength and vitality he needed, and any sacrifice Anise could have made would never have been enough...

But she should have done something.

Those gloomy thoughts were hastily pushed aside as the girl recovered her bright smile. There was no use dwelling on that at a time like this. That answer just now had been an affirmative one, right? It sounded that way! The man was probably just too modest to say it straight. What a guy!

"Of course they would! A doctor who can save lives is like a miracle worker. Hee hee!"

"It is certainly a very rewarding line of work." Citan wondered what that flicker had been. A dead loved one, perhaps? Or something else? But she seemed to wish to talk about his profession, so he would indulge her.

"And of course, when it comes to holiday seasons, I never have a free night! I think someone must have said it's good luck to have a doctor over."
gald_digger: (Okay but how much is that in gald?)

Popular in the social world, too? Perfect! Anise was ready to make her best effort of swooning over him when the end of the street began to near. She glanced around and behind her, wondering if she had walked by the post office without realizing, but surely she hadn't! Even if she missed something, the doctor would have noticed...

"It doesn't look like it's here, huh? Do you think it's on one of the nearby streets after all?" It had to be. They couldn't just not have one.

"No, apparently it isn't on this street. Odd." Citan adjusted his glasses and frowned. The town seemed laid out so organized, and yet....

"I suppose it must be. Perhaps whoever built the town had a lapse of judgment. or perhaps when it was built, this wasn't the main street. Towns are added to as they grow, after all...."

Or maybe you're the one who had a lapse in judgment! ...was a thought best left unspoken if she wanted to stay on the doctor's good side.

"Okay, let's try the next one over!" Grabbing his left hand, Anise led Citan north, straight through Weigal and to the nearest street.
