Day 28: Germaine Street

Rhode didn't want to have to let go of Allen, not ever. It could be forever before she was able to be with him again! But the nurses were persistent in moving her off the big yellow thing, as was Allen for getting away from her. Even outside of the building, people were just determined to keep her from being with him! It wasn't fair!

Once off the bus and shivering just slightly from the crisp fall air, Rhode was handed a small booklet of what the nurse called "coupons". It took some explaining, but Rhode was eventually able to understand that the thin pieces of paper in the book were supposed to be used like money here. She wasn't at all accustomed to buying things for herself; that was supposed to be the Earl's job. When Rhode expressed this problem, the nurse only gave her a sad smile and patter her in the direction of the buildings.

"Why don't you go find something fun to do? There's a toy store just around the corner there. Don't worry about being alone though, we're all here to keep an eye on you. If anything happens, just come get one of us," the nurse explained, nodding to the staff members that were set to parole the town for any problems their more unruly patents could cause.

So, they were all going to be watched even though they could roam about freely? Rhode took a look back towards the yellow things but was unable to pick out Allen from the mess of patients. In a few moments, she probably wouldn't be able to find him at all or for the rest of the day. Should she just resign herself to that for now and use the small bit of freedom to her advantage? Being with Allen was important, and a lot of fun but...

She glanced down at the coupons again, smiled up at the nurse as best she could, and gave a quick, "Okay!" before running off as suggested.

A small bit of freedom was bound to make her feel better. Maybe she could use it to remind herself of how she was supposed to handle Allen Walker, an exorcist. This town did have a similar air to that of the Rewinding Town, after all.

Even Luxord had to crack a smile at II's enjoyment before he nodded at Gabranth's words. "Would you like to accompany us," the Gambler asked with a wave of his hand, not bothering to introduce the other Nobody to his roommate. "After all, the more the merrier."

Truly, the Tenth should be full of righteous rage at Xigbar wasting his Time the night before as he had, but he just didn't have it in him. Today was a nice day. Today was a day for vapor trails relaxing, for once. Luxord had not a wish for the normal arguments.

Perhaps they also had ice cream in this town. He missed ice cream.

Celes had left the conversation of a fourteen year old for the hustle, bustle and... coupons (What?!) of the town. She'd give her milk teeth for twenty-five gil, even if it meant that she'd have to spend it on watered wine. Ugh.

The general stretched, almost wishing she'd have more of a reason to be active. It was with an irritated huff, and keeping her eyes on the coupons. A spa, a... what was a hamburger? Some other things that said very little of how 'exciting they would be. Celes looked up just in time to sidestep an obstacle, an obstacle the size and shape of Noah.

"Pardon me," she apologized and stuffed the book of coupons in the pocket of her denim trouser's pocket and smoothed the wrinkle in the pink (goddesses preserve her) sweater and inclined her head. "Noah, gentlemen."

Xigbar had been planning on chatting it up a bit, maybe doing something to keep that smile going- even he had a limit to poking Luxord's buttons, and now was definitely homie-time not the best time for arguments. They had things to do, people to see, and hopefully booze to down! He'd even got so far as to say, "Count me in"...

But then Celes walked into the conversation, and just like with Rangiku, Xigbar committed the number one sin of Nobodies. He put hoes before bros women before his fellow Nobody. In the form of promptly sidling up to Celes. He'd learned, however, that ogling was not the best course of action. Instead he offered a charming grin and a slight bow. "Xigbar's the name," he said, "an' I'm real pleased to meet you."

The judge turned to the familiar voice, giving a nod to the prescence of Celes. "My Lady, good morning," he greeted, stifling a smile at the attire she was currently clothed in. He had enough graces to see she was irritated, and probably not amused with the outfit herself. On that note, if any, he had to agree.

He began a line to invite her with them along to the tavern, but cut off after "Care to-" as his roommate's friend slithered up to her. At he least he could catch the other's name, even if the introduction had not been directed to him. With a frown, he finished. "Join us for a drink? Should we be able to find the tavern, at any rate."

There was a small moment where Luxord looked almost joyous to not be at the other Nobody's throat, the expression bright, foreign, and seeming more fitting for his Other than himself.

…and then came Celes. Any and all attention the Gambler could have held to someone else had disappeared as soon as her breasts she walked into the conversation. In seconds flat, that cheery smile went back into his normal, amused façade and he moved to her other side to extend a hand.

"Do ignore my ill-mannered friend, Miss," he said, all charm and flirtatious smiles. "You may call me Luxord, as I'm sure I would remember such a face were dearest Noah to have acquainted us."

[identity profile] lady-general.livejournal.com 2007-11-04 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
The general counted to ten in her head. Normally, to count to five was enough, but no, for once Celes needed ten numerals. Cid would be proud; his beloved "granddaughter" didn't say anything scathing. Yet.

She shook Luxord's hand like a man, inclined her head briefly to Xigbar and replied, "It is a pleasure to meet you, gentlemen. Now, what's this about a tavern?" Celes let go of Luxord's hand and looked thoughtfully at the three of them a moment. "It sounds excellent, if a bit early."

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2007-11-04 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it was on, if Luxord was going to be like that. Xigbar had noticed that joyous look on Luxord's face, and also the moment when he'd seen Celes and suddenly shifted into his usual smugness. It aggravated Xigbar, in no small part because he was trying hard to set a mood and there went that stupid Neophyte, jumping in and ruining everything. Worse than having a little brother on a date!

Still, not all was lost. Boobsze was good, after all. And if things went well, maybe the trip wouldn't quite be wasted. Hey, it wasn't forbidden for a Nobody to plan for the best, right? "Sounds peachy," he affirmed to Celes, even though he had no clue where anything was. If all else failed, he winged it. It usually never failed him before!

Noah went on as if he wasn't disgusted that his roommate and new acquaintance were panting after Celes like dogs. Despite the fact he was.

There was no modesty here, was there?

"Too early for a drink? Hardly," he retorted, passing through the coupons in his hand to double check for a map or anything of the like. Nothing. "I feel the increasing need for one as it stands."

A sigh. "Except 'tis easier said than done. I fear a little wandering is in order." Oh, yes. He would definitely need a drink after this, if it continued as it was.

"Or," he gestured to a passing nurse after a moment. "We might ask for directions."

The Gambler had prepared to give the woman's hand a kiss, but she removed it before he had the chance. She was a quick one, much like Ms. Hinasaki but with three times less moe

Hm.

As it were, II was giving him a dirty glare for his attitude towards Celes he was obv. jealous because he wasn't trying to hit on the Freeshooter.. Luxord merely shot him another peachy smirk before chuckling in agreement with Noah. "Time holds no barrage for such wanton desires; a drink is a drink, Mother Time interrupting not with some toll. And while I remain quite positive some would disagree," he gave Celes another charming smile before continuing, "their opinions hold no place in my 'heart'. As for the location of such a place…"

Luxord shrugged in finality after it all and turned his attention to his homiegdawg friend. He'd not liked the nurses enough to ask them for anything, so perhaps II's innate sense of Space would help. "Shall we wing it?"

[identity profile] lady-general.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Celes's glance traveled between Xigbar and Luxord, playing a fool a moment. Were these men...? They were! Though quite a bit more downplayed than, perhaps, Edgar (where was the King, anyway? Not that she cared, but it was a smart idea to keep a tight leash on him), it was still... below her.

Even from her battlefields and war rooms the general was still just that. She shifted her stance, putting her weight on one hip. "Knowing the lay of the land is suitable to me," she agreed with Luxord. Besides, a walk seemed rather agreeable, when one considered the weather and not the fact she'd suddenly amassed her own private harem.

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2007-11-09 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
'Wing it,' huh? Xigbar glanced at Luxord, then laughed and shrugged. "Directions? Nah, who needs to ask for directions when you've got me? Master o' Space, right here! I won't lead you wrong, huh?" That last part was said to Celes, Xigbar rather amused by her cold-leader-act. Little did he know that it wasn't an act. That'd just make it better when he'd wormed his way beneath her shell.

With a bow to the lady General, Xigbar spun around and started wandering. Not that it looked that way, with how quickly he moved... but yes, he was wandering. Best way to find something, just going around and looking. Maybe, just maybe, he had a little bit of his power left.

((Or was he really 'wandering'? (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/248015.html) ))
